Maurice Lacroix 63511 wrist watches news:
Please welcome Mr. ?lker ?zcan who will collaborate with aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer on a few articles discussing materials and processes used in watch cases and other components. Ozcan is a professional Materials Engineer and owns a small R&D company (ndsgnwatches-dealer) - and he loves mechanical watches and loves the exotic materials used in those watches. The purpose of this article series is to enlighten watch lovers about many aspects of watch materials so that everyone can make more educated decisions about the watches they are buying. Now on to Mr. Ozcan:In this first article I have chosen to start with Titanium. Titanium has recently become very popular in high-end watches, and it is not without reason. For me, titanium is the best overall engineering metal ever! Is it however the best material for a watch case? Let¡¯s take a look...We engineers measure many properties to evaluate materials. Probably more types of properties than you have heard of if you are not a materials e
A few weeks ago, we gave you a hands-on look at the Piaget 900P, the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. But this isn't the only new watch Piaget is showing at SIHH. The Altiplano Scrimshaw features a dial made from fossilized mammoth ivory that is then engraved with a map of the Eastern Hemisphere using traditional scrimshaw techniques. Each dial takes 65 hours to produce and these watches really are unique little works of art. 2 OF 15 The Altiplano Scrimshaw starts simply enough – a 38mm Altiplano case in either white or pink gold with an in-house 400P ultra-thin calibre. While these are admirable as-is, this watch is all about the special dial. A piece of preserved mammoth ivory (approximately 40,000 years old) is shaped into a dial that comes in around 1.7mm thick. From there, the dial is engraved with a map and a compass rose using traditional Scrimshaw techniques.Scrimshaw is a special type of engraving that can be traced back to the Inuits and other t

Hi everyone, I'm in Hamburg for a few days staying at the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. (Have to say that I'm loving the view from my room.)As luck would have it, I'm not too far from what looks like a gigantic Omega boutique. They were closed today but looked like they had a lot of great pieces in stock. I know discounts are out of the question but what's the level of tax back I can get back at the airport? I hear 19% is the tax but hear different stories in terms of how much you can actually get back at the airport. Your thoughts on this would be very appreciated.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm currently considering buying a Planet Ocean. In the UK the retail price for the 2500 is currently ?2800. The retail price for the 8500 is ?3800.While I generally prefer the look of the 8500 I'm just not entirely convinced (yet) on the more grey like colour of the ceramic bezel on the 8500.I'm assuming I would get little or no discount on the 8500 but would be confident I'd able to to negotiate something off the 2500, so the price difference between the two models could be in excess of ?1000.Does anyone have any experience of both models? Is the new model really worth the extra ??Also, having never owned an Omega before I would not be used to a bracelet that does not have a micro adjustment. I appreciate the PO has a half link for sizing but I'm assuming it does not give the same degree of adjustment as a Rolex clasp for example. How easy is it to get a comfortable fit with the PO bracelet?
