Since vintage is the overwhelming topic here, I want to link to a thread in the GDF that I'd appreciate some thoughts on:watchtalkforums.info/foru...587#post294587Thanks!
I decided I wanted to go back to this series and hone in on some specific models within the brands.Today's choice-Sinn 757 Diapal (details and pic from watchbuys)This watch is a product of Sinn listening to its customers. Last year, Sinn released two new models - the Sinn 757 and Sinn 757 UTC chronographs which have become best sellers for the company. After the release of these models, Mr. Lothar Schmidt, CEO of Sinn began to receive requests for a 757 watch with the Sinn DIAPAL movement -he listened, and Sinn has produced.Announcing the all new Sinn 757 UTC DIAPAL.What is a DIAPAL?Beginning in 1995, Sinn began work to create an oil free escapement. Just watching some CNN and I see the good Dr Gupta has switched from a Rolex Sub which I recall him wearing a few years ago to I believe an older model ROO chrono with bracelet. Thanks,EverettAP 15710 DiverSent from my iPhone
So I've zero'd in on a RO 26300 and visited my local and only AD in my neck of the woods. Surprisingly they had one in stock and so I tried it on and fell in love. When negotiating the price we didn't quite reach the level I was targeting. However, the sales rep offered to throw in an extra 1 year's warranty = 4 years warranty.Actually, he tried tricking me into thinking it was 2 years additional warranty, after which I brought to his attention the 3-year sticker concept. In any event, what do you think additional 1 year's warranty is worth? Sure, there is peace of mind, but unless something highly unexpected happens is it really worth much? I'm thinking a normal service should fix most normal issues and the cost of service could perhaps be somewhat compared to the extra 1 year warranty? What do you think?
