Michele MWW06P000219 wrist watches news:
Question for you all My wife is trying to sell her less than one year old Two Tone Datejust. I had never really paid too much attention to her paperwork before, but now that she's trying to sell it, I notice that the paperwork states that this watch is an "F" series! This watch was purchased in December of 2007, and it has the new "continuous bracelet" with the hidden clasp. The person interested in buying the watch had a book (albeit not a book directly from Rolex) and he basically stated that he couldn't go any higher than his quoted price because of the year of the watch, 2004 I believe he said. So my wife stopped by the A.D. where we bought the watch, and the guy said something along these lines...that the watch was in fact a brand new 2007 model watch when we bought it. The reason the paperwork says F series is because sometimes the cases are manufactured well ahead of the rest of the watch, so the case could have been maunfactured during the F series run. Does that make any
Hey guys!I ordered my copy of "American Wristwatches, Five Decades of Style & Design" a few days ago and it arrived about 30 minutes ago. I was VERY excited to see what it had to say so I opened it at once. After about 15 minutes I became VERY disappointed! I found no less than five major mistakes within the Elgin military watches alone! Wrong dates that the dials were available, wrong hands, wrong movement jewel counts that were available that year in certain grades and so on! I paid $50.00 for this book and I was really looking forward to expanding my knowledge on other brands and styles, now I own a $50.00 doorstop! I am VERY reluctant to study this book further as I do not want to learn any incorrect information! I do NOT claim to be the end all, be all when it comes to WWI era Elgin military watches by any means but I know that the book is wrong!!!!!! Sorry for my rant but how difficult is it to check your facts before you publish a book?!?!?!
Hey all,A friend of mine has a JLC Reverso in stainless steel & asked me if I know where he can get it refinished. He wears it as a daily watch, and it's seen some 'combat'. I told him I'd do it for him. It may not be quite as good as a professional watchmaker or the factory, but I'd do it for no charge - so what's he got to lose? He agreed So below are some before & after from a couple angles Not too bad IMO. Came out pretty good. He's got a few dents & dings that I didn't try to remove. It would have required too much being sanded off. BEFORE:AFTER:BEFORE:AFTER:BEFORE:AFTER:BEFORE:AFTER:A general AFTER shot...And the set-up...Didn't come out too bad IMO.. What y'all think??
