Patrizzi to Auction Historic Original Breguet Manuscripts on May 7
On May 7 in Geneva, Patrizzi & Co. will auction a historic manuscript written between 1818 and 1823, during the last years of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s life. The document, which recently resurfaced, chronicles Breguet’s horological innovations, the history of his firm, watch calibers and complications, and his overall philosophy and designs. Breguet dictated the text to his assistant Louis Moinet and edited and noted corrections by hand. Breguet died in 1823 before it could be completed. “It is hard to stress the importance of this event to the world and more specifically to the horological world,” said Osvaldo Patrizzi, chairman and CEO of Patrizzi & Co. “These are the writings of the master of horology, the knowledge his lifetime ¨C from which we can learn many details that we have until today only been able to speculate on. Corum Ambassador Ben Ainslie Sets Sailing Record
On July 11th 2009, Corum ambassador Ben Ainslie set a new elapsed time record for monohulls in the Transpacific Yacht Race. Sailing Alfa Romeo II (Neville Crichton¡¯s Reichel Pugh 100), Ainslie and crew made the 2,225-nautical mile crossing in 5 days, 14 hours, 36 minutes and 20 seconds. The crew beat the previous course record set by Hasso Plattner¡¯s Morning Glory in 2005 of 6:16:04:11 by over a day.The new record was the result of a very good team led by Neville Crichton. In addition to Ainslie, Crichton¡¯s crew included Stan Honey, Michael Coxon, David Endean, Ryan Godfrey, Stan Honey, Andrew Hutchinson, Phil Jameson, Lance Jenkins, Gavin McPherson, Peter Merrington, Murray Spence, Craig Sattherwaite, Joao Signorini, David Rolfe, Tony Mutter and Alfa¡¯s shore crew, Ian Goldsworthy. Well, I bought the Tissot Quadrato and was looking to spice it up a little. What Omega band, or any other EXTREMELY comfortable band would fit just fine on this watch? My impressions with some Omega Basel 2017 Pieces
Last night I attended an event hosted by Omega at a boutique. I have to be honest....it blew the socks off the Rolex event I went to. It was really all about the people there....true enthusiasts of the brand along with some very very interesting guests (how about the guy who is the son of the man who invented the official NASA certified Fisher space pen that the astronauts used, and still produced/used today, talk about an honor to talk to these guys). The food and drinks were a cut above the Rolex event as well and the people there pampered the heck out of my entire family (wife and kids), kudos to Omega on knowing how to throw a party......I also got to talk to some people in real life finally that I've been buddies with on forums so that was fun....and they brought some spectacular rare/vintage pieces as well.
