Follow-up review from Guy in Canada, winner of the MTM Silencer watch giveaway on watches-dealer last October.I was very pleased to hear that I had won the MTM Special Ops Silencer from watches-dealer and am grateful for the opportunity to share my impressions of this timepiece. I selected the silver model being a traditionalist and was not disappointed when it arrived by FedEx.I opened the shipping box to find the MTM Special Ops box which contained the Barracuda case (which is waterproof) and which provided an extra layer of protection. The watch was also encased in dense foam. Inside were the watch, warranty card, manual, dog tags, link removal tools, two extra link pins, and induction charger.The first impression, once removed from its confines, was the feel and weight. This is a substantial timepiece, solidly built and definitely not for the weak of wrist. The other noticeable aspect is the girth or thickness of the watch. Being 25 and into watches does not always go together. Watches are inherently very expensive, and the cost of admittance into the hobby can be overwhelming. It is a hobby and passion of appreciation and style. You have to appreciate the beautiful, recognize the handsome, and critique the flawed. Few of us are hands on in anyway. Meaning we do not fix or modify watches, not do we really understand the inner workings for the most part.Being "into watches" is really about being able to appreciate and recognize achievements in utility and design. As I will try to illustrate over time, making a nice watch is very hard to do. Many of the watches I criticized for a long time, I have recently come to appreciate for their classic looks and on going charm. Matching watch with significant other?
Do most here have matching watch with their significant other? Such as a Nautilus for men and lady?I personally don't have a matching watch with wife except we both have Daytona but not the exactly same line or his/hers. I wear the SS usually (now also a 5167) and she wears the RG (now the twenty-four steel).
