Montblanc has announced that it will serve as official timekeeper for the Belmont Stakes thoroughbred race on June 5, 2010 at Belmont Park in Elmont, NY. At 1.5 miles, the Belmont Stakes is the longest and most demanding of the Triple Crown races. During the winner’s circle presentation, Montblanc North America President and CEO Jan-Patrick Schmitz will award a Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec timepiece to the owner of the winning horse. Montblanc shares a historical connection to horse racing through its Rieussec-inspired chronograph. As the dedicated watchmaker for Louis Philippe, the last king of France, Rieussec made history on September 1, 1821 when he succeeded in recording the times of all the horses as they passed the finishing line to an accuracy of a quarter of a second. Thought I'd post the picture of the old girl again in a new post, any thoughts as to why Omega decided to produce a blue bezel in 1965/1966 would be much appreciated, as well as any thoughts as to how many other examples may exist?Also one of my everyday De Ville, again been in the family since new when my grandfather purchased it in 1968. Love the clean design and timeless elegance of this watch, maybe that's why I love the Speedy so much, and the non date Sub.Reading these forums there are quite a number of people very much in one camp or the other when it comes to Rolex & Omega. Me, I just appreciate classic design, whether it begins with an R or an O...
