- This watch is absolutely gorgeous. The picture on this website does not do it justice. It has the look and feel of a omega, and I get compliments on it daily.

2010 marks a double anniversary for Girard-Perregaux: 35 years of the Laureato collection and 40 years since its first quartz wristwatches. The Manufacture played an important role in the development of quartz movements; it set the frequency of 32,768 Hz, since adopted by all manufacturers as the universal standard. The Story of Quartz at Girard-PerregauxIn the 1960s, Girard-Perregaux was one of the few brands with an in-house R&D department, positioning the firm to respond to the advent of then cutting-edge quartz movements. American, Japanese and Swiss firms raced to bring the technology to market. While most Swiss watchmakers were undertaking joint research, from 1962 the G-P manufacture struck out on its own, not wanting to be dependent on outside suppliers. In 1969 the brand received its first patent relating to quartz technology. At the 1970 Basel fair, G-P unveiled the Elcron, a quartz wristwatch featuring an 8,192 Hz quartz oscillator. The dial on the Alter Ego has markers for six hours and the Tag Heuer logo and nothing else. Designers to combine this ultra clean dial colours for a stunning effect.
Well I finally did it. I purchased my first Omega. I picked up a used Seamaster Pro and it arrived today. The watch was listed as "like new" condition and I'm tellin' ya' it could pass for new. It is absolutley beautiful. The electric blue dial really pops. It came with all the original packaging and the links that were removed. I had my jeweler put one link back in and I've been wearin' it ll day Can't seem to get this grin off my face either :DHere's a couple quick & dirty shots. You can tell I haven't picked up John's book on watch photographt Budman
Hi GangIf I wanted to train to be a "jedi" (like Jocke or JBH), and be able to do things like: open an oyster case, remove and swap bezels, scrutinise up close and appraise, take pictures of the movement inside, etc etc....What basic watch tools would I need?Right now, I have none, but have discovered a shop that actually sells all this "lightsabre stuff" (schzoom..schzoom...sound of lightsabre swing). Can any jedi out there recommend the basic watch tool kit to me?BTW...I intend to practice on an old seiko first.
