SIHH 2014 Preview: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon
Audemars Piguet released its first Royal Oak Concept watch in 2002 with a case made of Alacrite 602. Another Concept model, in 2008, featured a forged carbon case, and the 2011 model combined a titanium case with a black ceramic bezel. Ahead of the 2014 SIHH watch fair in January, AP has unveiled the newest in the series, the Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon, which adds a white ceramic bezel to the titanium case.The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon features a bezel, crown and push-pieces in white ceramic (replacing the 2011 model’s black ceramic), contrasting with the sculpted titanium case middle. Audemars Piguet has also incorporated ceramic into the movement itself, using the material for the hourglass-shaped upper bridge, which serves to highlight the symmetry of the watch’s main attractions, its tourbillon and GMT display. We can work out the gains or otherwise in another thread.In terms of discounts my best deal has to be that De Ville Co-Axial Byzantium. The AD had a sale on in the spring of 2006 and I snapped it up at 40% discount.

decisions, decisions
so i finally decided to pick up an ETO but i can't decide which one i want. my plan all along was to get a watch that would look good with a black rubber sport strap (more for everyday use) as well as a brown leather strap (to dress it up a little). this will be the only watch that i really wear, so i want something that will look good with both straps. i've narrowed it down to two ETOs, H77612333 - black face with black rubber strap and H77622553 - silver face with brown leather strap. whatever one i get, i would buy the other strap separately. the problem is that i like the black rubber strap best with the black face, and i like the brown leather strap best with the silver face. unfortunately, buying both is not an option! this is all new to me and you guys are the experts. so what does everyone think? i know it comes down to personal preference, but considering both straps, should i go with the black face or silver face?

Lumed Bezels?
Does anyone else here think the next evolution with the new sports models will be that they come with lumed numbering and markers on the bezels rather than the platinum dust? I¡¯m sure I see a patent somewhere for Rolex filed with pictures a few years back?
