Breitling AB041012/C835-croco-black-tang wrist watches news:
Been thinking about Rolex prices a bit lately and I can't seem to find a recent price list here on the forum. Anyone got one to share?
Hi, very new to vintage watches and Omega. I'm starting at entry level which really reflects the size of my disposable incomeJust bought an old manual wind Omega Seamaster which is on its way to me from the US to Australia. I'm pretty happy really as I like the patina of the older pieces. As I live in a very small one watchsmith town I thought somebody here may have the time to give me some advice. The old watchsmith I use was probably in his heyday when this watch was made. He's slow but thorough and knows this era of watch well. The Seamaster has a non-gen crown and I like to replace it with the correct crown. To get the wheels spinning a bit faster I could buy one from an ebay dealer who has many different Omega crowns of various specs. The watchsmith has told me that an gen crown will cost a fair amount and take some time to arrive from Switzerland. He has no idea about the fact that parts are available other than those supplied by Omega. The choices of Omega crowns he has may
Many of the nicer watchwinders come in rosewood, ebony, mahogeny and other exotic woods which are woods subjected to the Lacey Act (google it for info)we are not talking CITES Appendix 1 woods either. If the purchased wood is not properly documented (think a boatload of paperwork), it can be seized anyway along the chain (from the person who cuts the wood to the person who sells the finished product (in theory the product can be seized from the owner crossing the border). There is an ongoing problem occurring with Gibson Guitars and the feds over wood (rosewood and ebony) which Gibson purchased in India which was seized a few weeks ago (this is the second seizure of wood at Gibson). It is likely to have a ripple effect across many industries; guitars, furniture, watch winders, and anything else that uses exotic woods.
So im in the market for a speedmaster. I know many of you don't like the reduced. Here is my thought between the two.I want to wear them either on a nato or on a vintage leather strap.I personally like the reduced size and price as its about $1500 cheaper than the Pro. The only think its lacking imo is the case back with the first watch on the moon. I won't be wearing the watch to often just something to collect as well as to wear once and a while for a change up.Can anyone give me any pros and cons between the two.Thank youBrandon
