Omega 123.20.24.60.02.002 wrist watches news:
Not me, I took the name from grandfathers watch! Some background history on this Hamilton 992-Grandfather was a mid-western farm boy who got to experience fine American mechanical objects during the "Great War", that's him on the right astride that 1917 Harley Davidson T-Twin.Upon discharge in 1919 he met my grandmother at Camp Shanks in NY where she worked as a clerk. After marriage, they moved to Sparrows Pt MD where he obtained work as an operating engineer at the Bethlehem Steel Plant.I'll assume after saving some money and needing a timepiece, he purchased this watch from a jeweler in Baltimore. The serial # dates this to 1919, and the interesting part is that this TIME KING dial was only made for this one store- (info from NAWCC bulletin).Grandmother gave me this watch when I started collecting in 1991, I had it serviced and re-cased it in this salesmens sample case to show off the movement-I hope you've enjoyed the story of some family history and of the "Time King"

So aside from finding a ton of great deals on ebay (of course because everything I find is not authentic), I am having a really tough time finding a watch similar to this one. I really enjoy the idea because although I can see the watches inner workings it is still very easy to tell the time. I also love the clear casing on the back so you can look through. Can anyone give me some advise on where to look for a watch similar to this? I am not hung up on the Omega brand, although of course have no problem with them, but more the idea of this type of watch. Thanks
I see so many watches here that I love and admire. But if I had $24,000 I didn't know what to do with, I think I would buy a Jaquet Droz, my grail - for several reasons. For one thing, Droz was the Bill Gates or Albert Einstein of his age.....a watchmaker who also made dolls and small, intricate machines that were the wonder of the world. It is almost as if he was the first computer scientist as his machines were so complicated and life-like. Droz also had a simple idea in his conception of beauty; he believed that the symbol '8' had a natural beauty and balance that appealed to the mind. The modern day Jaquet Droz 'Large Second' would be my grail and tribute to Droz. It embodies the figure 8 design, and it is fired by many layers of fine enamel on the dial which gives it a deep old world luster. The other thing I love about it is the large, prominent second hand. The reason I like to see the very large second hand is that it emphasizes the precision of the instrument, and also t
