Ok, so I've made a few rough calculations and have figured out that I can start dreaming about watches worth about $4k, with a hope to be able to get one within the next 12 months! I'm happy not buying any other watches in that period, if that'll help me stick to my goal! It'll pretty much be my grail, and may I add, the most expensive watch for the next 5 years at least.I was generally browsing through some other makes and realised that a few watches from IWC, Ulysse Nardin, and even JLC fall within the price range.But, as much as I may love the other watches also, I somehow can't imagine myself spending so much money on anything but a RolexI know that I'll be lying if I said that I wasn't interested in the brand value it has in the eyes of the non WIS community. Watchmaker recommendations?
Hi: I am new to the appreciation and collection of vintage watches, and I have been studying, reading, and doing computer searches about this for a few weeks, now.Besides learning quite a bit about the whole study of horology, I am also learning that there are lots of "watch shops" out there that don't know diddly about watches. Their main business of watch repair is replacing batteries in quartz movements, and for anything beyond that, they send the watch out to "our watchmaker." Well, "our watchmaker" turns out to be some guy with watch experience who comes around every few weeks. If you get something done, there's no notes, no explanation about anything, and it's all too impersonal for me.I'm in New Orleans, which is a hotbed of estate jewelry shops and estate auctions, but I'm not ready for that yet. So, I recently received an AP in as scrap gold. After talking with a broker on these forums, I was informed the watch wasn't overly collectible. I was wondering if anyone knew someone that made custom cases? Something simple and elegant and inline with AP's current lineup. The 80's are gone and i just can't see myself wearing that big hunk of gold around my wrist( 94.8 dwt with movement)I also was thinking of trying to track down a vintage Blue dial and hands and was thinking of putting it in white gold.Any thoughts or ideas?

Would love a green dial for the YG which is my favoured model. Quite like the white dial but an anniversary green would definitely push me forward!! RG doesn't suit my skin tone, white not my thing.

I want one oyster bracelet that is compatible with my 1016 R serial and my 14060m Z serial.I like the 78790 do to the smaller clasp and safety. Can I use both 501b and 580 end links on this bracelet? I don't know if the last center link is wedge or round on 78790 or if that matters.Thank you in advance
