A WIS worst nightmare
This might be a horror story for any WIS so read with caution! Let me start from the beginning:Today I got my Rolex back from my AD after he had removed a particle located on my dial. It was great to get the watch back and I figured I'll just change the case back right away to the Sapphire one. I have always had problems to get the O-ring to fit properly and this time was no exception. So wean I finally thought I managed to make it fit and was about to place the sapphire case back on the watch. The o-ring fell of and landed on the hairspring making the hairspring stop! It was about here I panicked! So I removed the o-ring as fast and gentle as I could hoping the hairspring would start turning again as fast as I got the weight from the o-ring off it. Unfortunately that was NOT the case! The hairspring had stopped. I started to softly shake the watch a little turning it around holding it in different position to see if it would start but it did not. I must tell you that my heart was beat

My baby
Here is my GMT Master 1675 I bought at the US Army PX in Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 1965 for...$145. I have worn it always and it is my baby. Its been in the shop 3 times and just returned from the latest overhaul and looks brand new. I l-o-v-e it! My proudest possession next to my class ring. Ain't it beautiful...?After talking to Rolex and learning its current value, I figure I earned 2.5%/p.a. on that $145 investment over 44 years - after maintenance expenses. So, finding these forums and other info on the web, I think its time to start collecting Rolexes as a little side investment. Just for fun.

My new blue sumo
I ordered this from yobokies. It just arrived today. I had him install a sapphire crystal, which I think is a big upgrade from the seiko hardlex. It toook about ten days to get to Texas from Hong Kong. I am very happy with the watch. It exceeded my high expectations. regarding some sumo complaints: The date on mine is perfectly centered. It hand-winds smoothly. Many critique the relatively thin bracelet, but I love it, with the one exception noted below. And as for its size, it's not small and feels substantial on the wrist, but I would actually like to try a larger watch. It's not too large for me. The unsized bracelet fit my 7.75 inch wrist almost perfectly as is. I actually made one micro adjustment to shorten it, using all the links. The one complaint I do have is the solid endlinks not fitting flush with the case. they appear a little too recessed. Eventually I may put the marine master clasp on it. This is a great watch in my opinion and a superior value.
