No More "Luxury" Watches
I want "luxury" to die. Not actual luxury from an economic standpoint, but a lot of how we use the actual word "luxury." Allow me to set up this topic just a bit, and explore my ideas with you. I promise that in the long run my suggestions will benefit everyone, and this is free advice to an industry that I think needs it.I write about timepieces, lots of different timepieces including many that are high-end. "High-end" having the association that they are perhaps well-made, use expensive materials, are exclusive, and cost a lot. You know"luxury." What cheapens many of these brands is that they attach the term "luxury" to their image and products. Cheapening not only the word "luxury," but also the products themselves. Things aren't "luxury" because you insert that word into your slogan. Nothing is worse for luxury watches than the term "Luxury Swiss Watches" next to a brand name as a slogan. Repair Question - Crown Tubes
I have a question for some of the repair people out there...Are Hamilton Crown Tubes threaded into place, or tension fitted into place. Specifically, I am thinking about a Hamilton Barrel Plain that needs a new crown tube.How do I go about getting a properly fitting crown tube? I will likely order from a parts house, but I wonder how to get the color/shade/patina to match, or simply not worry about it since it will likely be covered by the crown.I knowit's a very specific question, but the folks on this forum know A LOT. Selling my ap 15202 for PP 5980/1a?
I have been thinking of pulling the trigger on the 5980/1a for sometime now, will have to sell A watch to fund my PP chrono, i was going to part with my Pam 233 gmt, but then realized it will be more likely taking a hit on the second hand market. Should I sell my ap 15202 instead? Jumbo does get some wrist time and I love it, but not the same love I have for the 5980/1a. What do you guys think?

I understand everything with Rolex seems to be unattainable as of late BUT I wanted to compile this thread with any information available. I think it will help to a degree to see that some AD's get a ton more goodies and others just get 36mm DD's. So here goes:If you have any concrete sales volume data regardless of how detailed it may or may not be please post. I am sure monthly, quarterly, and yearly Rolex SA send there AD's or reps at the very least a tally of what was sold/sent etc along with objectives. If you have access to this information and don't mind posting it please do so for the sake of the forum.My only intention is to try and make sense of the way Rolex operates. My hope is to assist some people who are paying over MSRP with a fighting chance to guide them in the direction of there desired purchase.Please don't post your speculation or what my AD said.
