Last night HODINKEE hosted a fantastic event with Manfredi Jewels at their beautiful boutique in Greenwich, CT. There was a great turn out of HODINKEE readers as well as local clients of Manfredi Jewels – with tons of watches to try on and the champagne flowing. 1 OF 22 Part of the reason Manfredi Jewels is so successful is that they continue to carry classic brands (like Breguet, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, etc.), but also carry independent makers such as Ressence, F.P. Journe, and Laurent Ferrier – making the selection of watches interesting and fun. I found oem quality spring bars for 44mm Chronomat dive straps
I found reasonably priced OEM Breitling 23mm x 1.8mm stainless steel spring bars to be used with the 44mm Chronomat series of watches with 22mm lugs. Any time you switch from a bracelet to a strap, it is advised to go up 1mm in spring bar size. So a 22mm lug should have a 23mm spring bar with a strap. This way any twisting of the strap will not cause the spring bar to fall out. If I use the OEM 22mm spring bars that are used for the pilot bracelet with the Pro 3 Dive strap, I can push on one side of the strap by the case and the spring bar will compress enough to POP OUT. A 23mm spring bar locks the rubber strap in solid and any amount of strap force wont push the spring bar out. That 1mm longer collar makes all the difference in strength and security. I dive with my watches and have been very particular with what spring bars I use with rubber dive straps on all my watches. Omega also goes up 1mm in their straps over the bracelet and have been doing this for years wi

Looking for some advice. Let's say you have a watch, freshly serviced by the manufacturer's agent. Let's say the service provider has sealed the timepiece in a clear plastic bag. Here's the question: if you were buying that freshly serviced and sealed watch, would you a) prefer to buy the watch as photographed through the sealed plastic bag, knowing you will be the first to touch it since the factory service, or b) prefer the watch were removed and photographed without the plastic bag so you could be assured the watch is as mint as the seller stated, knowing service papers will accompany the watch?Oh, and, let's say the watch is a Patek Philippe Nautilus (in case that makes a difference...)Thanks in advance!
