Why the Lack of Interest in this Hamilton 981?
Several months ago, a Hamilton with a 981 movement went for over $400. I asked at the time why it went so high. The answer was that the sale price was low and the watch should have gone for more than $500. We all made comments about the dial being refinished incorrectly with the wrong font for Hamilton. Now, we have Ebay listing:Vintage 1923 SILVER Case Wire Lugs HAMILTON Wristwatch - eBay (item 270586251064 end time Jun-08-10 17:47:54 PDT)It is a silver cased 981 movement. It went for $193.62. I assume by the assay marks on the case back that it was not cased by Hamilton, although they did case 300 round 981's. They also sold 397 movements only. What made this watch worth so much less?If Hamilton used/sold its movements in order, this one would have been sold in 1922, though the seller may have been relying on the assay marks. Is this truly the "one that got away"?

Christmass watch and I feel guilty
This is the watch I am getting for Christmass. Ya I would rather get a Bretling Navitimire but this is all my wife feels is acceptable to spend on another watch concidering we got a new fishing boat this year also. And for the first time I feel slightly guilty. I currently have 29 watches. This one makes 30. Some nice some just regular. Mostly Seikos, Pulsars, one Tag, a Bulova, a few Swiss Army, Casio, Citizen, Some Fossil, Skagen and now this Trias. I was talking up my vast collection to my wife and at that moment on the news they ran a story of a family of 4 that was recently evicted and are spending christmass in a van. Regretting Speedy Date purchase
I just bought this watch from a coworkerHe needed the money and the price was right, so I bought it and thoughtI'd give it to my wife, but upon close inspection I really don't like the model that much and I thought I'd put it on colorful NATOs for hee to wear, but just realized the lug width is 19mm! Not that many options...I'm torn between sticking to the plan and giving it to her (a very affordable way of spreading the watch fever and get her of my back for a future purchase) or flipping which I believe I can do relatively quick and at a nice profit...Not sure what kind of comments to expect, mainly just venting
