Oris 01 733 7646 7154 07 4 26 04TEB wrist watches news:
I was reading in a few of the posts that if someone places aftermarket parts on their Rolex (Diamonds on the dial, diamonds on the bezel, etc.) that if the person sends it in to Rolex, that they will remove the aftermarket part and replace it with a Rolex one, and charge the consumer. A few questions:1: Is this true?2: If so, do you get the aftermarket parts back?3: How is this legal? It is your watch, you can do whatever you like to it. Service means service the watch, not redesign it and charge the consumer.
I'm sure this won't be news to anybody in herebut it was news to me. Some of you guys know that I'm currently going through and letting go of a whole bunch of watches my dad left me some 20 years ago now. I've been busy trying to figure out what they are and setting appropriate prices on them. Thanks to those of you in here that have helped me identify a few of them.In any case, I finally broke into the pocket watch box. I've always had a special thing for pocket watches and wore one (an Illinois) all through high school in my Levi 501's watch pocket. Looking at the time always made me feel good while wearing that watch. So, I start identifying the complete and running watches firsta few Elgins and another Illinois. The Elgins are easy but I can't get the back off the Illinois (screw back, maybe cross threaded). After identifying them I start researching the going prices and find.......Pocket watches are almost a dime a dozen. Oh, I'm sure that there are those "rare finds" that
Today, I came across some P/W's that have been in the family for a while...and there is one that I'd really like to know more about. From the little I know about these type of things, it's a Lepine calibre watch (though not an actual Lepine), with an 18K gold/enamel case (although I'm not 100% sold it has a solid 18K case), and is key set and wound. Other than a very faint hallmark and a serial number, I couldn't find any distinctive marks that would indicate who made it.I'm trying to figure out a rough time period that this could be from...as well as any clues as to who could have made it. And eventually, it would be nice to get a rough idea of what it's worth. So if you can help, please don't be shy!

When I saw this watch I searched for a few months for the best specimen I could find. Hilariously, the whole time I was looking I thought the dial was white but in person it is definitely silver. I'm apparently blind.
