The James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece is back . . . in black!Wednesday 12 March 2008OMEGA presents the new version of the Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond which collectors and fans have treasured since 1995.
Just purchased my first Omega, a vintage Seamaster cal. 752 off of the bay. The listing says original dial and there's no mention of it being refinished, but I just noticed that it does not say "SWISS MADE" at the six o'clock position! I have multiple pictures so I'm pretty sure it's not the crystal playing tricks. Also, the S in Seamaster is not as rounded as in other pictures I've seen. The pictures of the movement look good so I'm sure it's authentic but I think the dial may have been redone. Any help would be appreciated. So on the suggestion of other forum members, I am seriously considering a black dial Seiko Monster with a rubber strap. However, I have the following question:I cannot find that watch on Seiko USA's website - is it still in production? All I see on their site is a watch similar to the one that appears at the top of the Japanese discussion forum (with the yellow face). In addition to liking the silver bezel on the Monster, the Monsters available from site sponsors are priced around $200, whereas the one on SeikoUSA is listed as $450.I have no problem buying from a forum sponsor, however I like to try on a watch before I buy it, as I have tried on plenty that I didn't like. If someone could verify that the two watches have the same strap, size, thickness, and weight, I could try one on at a local Brick & Mortar, as I have seen those but not the Monster (although I will admit I haven't looked that hard yet....something to do this weekend). Thanks for the help-Monster Club Hopeful:cool:
Some 2 weeks ago I ordered a Timex Easy Reader, together with a 20mm NATO strap. Today the watch arrived, but unfortunately the lugs were 18mm and not 20mm-so I basically ordered a bigger strap by mistake, which should arrive in 2 weeks time. Now the question is, is there any way that I could try and squeeze the 20mm strap into the 18mm lugs or is this impossible to do so? I've heard that rubber straps could be squeezed to fit into smaller lugs (for example a 20mm band into 19mm lugs), but I'm not entirely sure about NATO straps...Should I try to do a bit of DIY modifying on the straps or should I just send them back the minute they arrive? Cheers!
