Panerai PAM 0012 wrist watches news:
This time last year, Omega brought out what they would position as the ultimate all-purpose, every day watch in the Globemaster. The watch has a lot going for it as is, but now Omega has upped the ante with a Globemaster with annual calendar complication. 1 OF 2 Now in 41 mm (the normal Globemaster is 39 mm), this new annual calendar features each month of the year in the 12 facets of the trademark pie-pan dial. Then, a thin blued hand points towards the current month, which then instantly jumps at month's end. 2 OF 2 The case remains stainless steel while the polished, fluted bezel is made of scratch-proof tungsten carbide. As with the other Globemasters, the annual calendar features a co-axial, master chronometer certification from METAS. More details, including pricing and hands-on photos, to come.More from Omega here. Don't have the HODINKEE App yet? I've seen guys faun over Parnis and Breguet at these things...Should I bring my sig
Scott had a blow out sale the other day and I stocked up First up, is a NOS Elgin band with original buckle. I have an Elgin with a 777 movement incoming that should go with with the band!Next up is a Kreisler center expansion band with lizard skin inserts. The top parts are 10K white gold. The Speidel band on my recently arrived Celestial broke (a link snapped) and I ordered this as a replacement. The third band was a NOS Vintage Hadley Roma. I put it on a Benrus that still was sporting the band it came with from eBay. I think it improved its looks greatly.Last is a Drema center expansion band that topped with 10K gold and it has lizard skin inserts. I put it on a Meridian because I didn't think the leather band on it did anything for it. Here's a before picture:And a few 'afters':
¡. or in classic Rocky & Bullwinkle alternate title fashion: November is the Month of Vintage Longines. I was really upset that I got sniped on a sweet caliber 22A at the beginning of the month, but the Watch Gods paid me back in spades! I'll be using the seller's pics for this post as I've only got my hands on one of these so far.First up is a stainless Silver Arrow with a very uncommon caliber 23ZDS. Most watches with this name on the dial are refinished generic 30L's that somebody decided to try to put one over on a n00b. Got a confirmation from Longines Archives and an old Longines ad too.I'm pretty stoked to get this model even though it's in lesser condition than I normally go for. These don't pop up very often, and when they do they're usually redials or nearly junk. I'll have to find a correct crown but that's not gonna kill me.Next is a 14ct caliber 280 that's in great condition.Came from a seller who knows how much of a fanatic I am for the brand. This one will see
I will soon be reaching into my wallet to purchase my first Rolex. I'm interested in the Explorer #214270 and the Oyster Perpetual #116000. I have a few questions. Do all authorized dealers in the US have the same price? My local dealer quoted $4,750 (Oyster) and $5,700 (Explorer). Second question--would one of these watches retain it's value better than the other? Any comments on either (or both) watches would be appreciated. Thanks
