I think we all know and appreciate the famous Jaeger-LeCoultre icon 'The Reverso'. Designed by a man named Chauvet. The patent was granted to Chauvet in France 1931 and then Switzerland in 1933.Chauvet sold the invention rights to Jaeger-LeCoultre for 10,000 Swiss Francs in addition to 2.5 francs for every watch sold. The 'Reverso' is an icon of watch design, launched in 1931 with a Tavannes movent and well alive today, with 80 yrs of unstopped production of that marvelous 'art-deco' style. Here is my Reverso from 1933."stand back in amazement' when I find a pocket watch with a 'Reverso' style case patented by J.M. For some reason, this watch has captured my imagination in an enduring way. When I first saw this model around 6-7 years ago, I thought it was ugly. Yet my tastes have turned around 100% to the point where now I really want one. But in the past, I have read a few comments from owners. What I am not sure about is how widespread and common their complaints are about AP. So here are some basic questions, let me know what you think!1. Royal Oak Bezel Scratches easily. By the way I have tried on a few used Royal Oaks and in most cases the bezel is fairly scratched up. Some have told me the steel on the bezel is softer than the rest of the case, mainly for aesthetic design reasons. Are you finding this a major distraction for you? Is the ease of scratching the bezel overemphasized? 2. Reliability. Some have told me that AP watches break down after 5 years or so, requiring extensive maintenance and repair, while others who have had several of their watches love them and tell me of their excel

I’ll admit that Rolex as a brand was never something on my radar, even while being very into watches for the past ten years. Until about a year ago, Rolex represented people who had more money than sense or wanted to show off. The price did not throw me off since there are plenty of watches that cost more that have been on my radar for a long time; it was more the cache that came with the brand name. I don’t know exactly what changed, but I realized that was all in my head and something about the 114060’s simple, uncluttered dial really appealed to me. It is a watch that can take a beating and still look as good as new.Last weekend (9 days ago) I was fortunate enough to purchase a brand new 114060 from an AD about 45 minutes away from me. There are a number of Rolex AD’s much closer to me, but none of them had any stainless steel sports models in stock, nor could give an estimate when any would be coming in. A few offered to put me on a wait list, and a few othe
