Patek Philippe 3557 wrist watches news:
The watch world’s current “Blue Period” shows no signs of waning at this year’s Baselworld, as brands continue to roll out timepieces with azure-colored dials and straps. Among the most notable new releases is a dark blue version of Glash¨¹tte Original’s Senator Chronometer, a model launched in 2009 that has become one of the Saxon brand’s cornerstones. The Glash¨¹tte Original Senator Chronometer, inspired by vintage marine instruments used in shipboard navigation, has earned official chronometer certification ¡ª and hence, its reputation for timekeeping precision and reliability ¡ª from an authorized testing institute, the German Calibration Service. (Swiss-made watches, unlike German-made watches such as this one, receive chronometer certificates from another certifying agency, the Contr?le Officiel Suisse des Chronom¨¨tres, or COSC.) Its dark blue dial ¡ª new to this model but used in other recently released timepieces from G.O., such as the Sixties Pano
Here is a hamilton i recently bought. Seeing the stock photos from the seller I could only assume it was a WWII hamilton (using the very useful links on this very forum provided in a sticky thread: Hamilton Forum and Hamilton Watch Information). Also comparing the dial of the watch with other models from this site antiquevintagewatches...y-watches.html I guessed it was a 987A model (because of the sub second hand and look of the dial). The scary thing about buying from the internet though is that you don't really know if you're getting the real deal. Especially when there are no pictures of the movement provided. I tried to unscrew the case and found that it had a gasket with another protective cap. Upon removing the cap it was finally revealed:you can only imagine the joy and amazement of seeing the vintage 987A mechanical wind movement, and knowing that it was indeed the watch i guessed it would be from research.i took a video of the movement here: youtube/watch?v=qF1VrFq-KxAyou
This is my new Orbita Sparta Executive that Kevin at Orbita helped me obtain. So far the fit and finish is outstanding. Only problem is the felt interior lining on the top of the lower compartment has fallen during shipment and lost some of its adhesive...easily fixed with contact cement. But is is definetly worth every penny. It is working flawlessly and is unable to be heard except for the click at the end of the rotation cycle that is barley audible. I only wish it had a glass window to view the watches but I just leave the case open when home. Some Photos with the Omega's moved in:
