This watch represents a very rare breed. I believe the HD3 Hidalgo XT-2 (AKA Idalgo XT-2) was introduced in about 2006 and is one of the rarer HD3 models. This fascinating watch is a new relic. Something that might not have seen the light of day if it was introduced as a concept now. What you have is a testament to what happens when high-design meets high-end watchmaking and high-end machinery - on a smaller independent scale. The watch is the brain-child of HD3's designer Jorg Hysek and Fabrice Gonet. This watch came out when it watch makers freely admitted their creations where "crazy."The watch essentially is a "double-wide" version of the HD3 Hidalgo XT-1. They wanted to make a larger watch with more going on. Of course there is a lot of visual similarity between the Hidalgo XT-2 and the MB&F Horological Machine Number 2. Surprising? Not really? Fabrice Gonet is also one of the "friends" at MB&F (Max Busser & Friends). The world of crazy cool high-end timepiece is a sma
Yes, I wrote about this watch before on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer. The Omega Limited Edition Olympics watch for Vancouver in 2010 is just an awesome timepiece and AskMenwatches-dealer was right to want it featured. The Canada flag colors of this watch and the cute little Olympic logo as the second hand's counter weight just make be very happy. Other than the engraved caseback, the watch is the same as the universally popular Omega Seamaster Professional 300m dive watch. Read the review on AskMenwatches-dealer here. I purchased a 50's SS IWC on the Bay in January. Bought it relatively cheap. The case and dial are real nice, but a watchmaker has told me that the momement is shot. It won't wind or set correctly. It's about a 36MM, and has a sub hand. I believe it's a cal 88, but will know for sure soon. Anyone have any suggestions??? I know you purists will cringe over this but..is it possible to replace the movement with a quartz one??? Or, does anyone know where I can find a working movement???
I wound it up and set the time with my atomic watch.Checking it against the atomic watch again this morning, my 300 MC has gained 23 seconds! (.25 sec/day)I guess it's time to have it serviced. ;-)
