Ignore the first 30-60 seconds of this film, it gets really cool after that. I love watching stuff like this because it actually does a very good job at showing you how watches are made at houses like Audemars Piguet. Yes, you need to know what to look for, but pay attention to the tools and techniques used to polish and decorate the movements. This process literally takes up most of the time in watch movement assembly. While the film is supposed to take place in the 19th century (even though some of the stuff looks really modern), the same process is used today to make high-end luxury watch movements. Take the hand-spun machine that spins the movement plate around, today it is just done with machines but that are more often than not still controlled by a human operator. My new IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar double moon phase (2+ weeks old)
Just want to share some pics with this beautiful time piece. I have eyeing this for the past few years and finally bit the bullet and acquired this watch on 5 Jan 2011. I currently own a Pilot Chronograph as well. I am always impressed with IWC design in particular the size and clarity of the dial and the fine craftsmanship. I own more than 15 watches ranging from Rolex, Omega, Panerai, Azimuth, U-Boat, Poljot, Jaeger, IWC, Tag Heuer,etc. But this time round, I tell myself that I should save up and buy a really nice one with good complication and the perpetual calendar has been on my wish list for quite sometime. IWC offers one of the most price competitive Perpetual Calendar in the market (I think the cheapest among all PC) and that was one reason why I bought this watch. I never thought or dream that I will own one but I did....I have been wearing it with me travelling on a cruise followed by a trip to Hong Kong, Bangalore, Pune and finally now in New Delhi. The best move I've made with regard to watches - what's yours?
Mine is deciding NOT to sell my Hamilton Jazzmaster Tonneau. When I first got it, I didn't think I'd be able to get used to its size. After wearing a couple of other large watches, I think it's just right. While I can't say I have a favorite because I like my various watches for different reasons, I will say that I am very glad I decided to keep it.So what's the smartest thing you've done with regard to watches?

First AP--How to wash/clean--44mm ROO Titanium
I just purchased my first AP BNIB from an AD. I got the new 44mm ROO with the titanium case on a grey rubber strap. Just wondering what the best way to clean/wash it after going in a pool or the ocean. Thank you.

RO - bracelet cleaning and maintenance
i note from some forums that dirt etc can be a key contributor to bracelet loosening over time rather than any tensile loads.that said i note that on the RO bracelet, the gaps between then links gather dust relatively easily.what do people find works well to get between the grooves?is pressurised air in a can spray safe? or a very light brush like the ones to apply shaving foam! a microfibre cloth doesnt really get in between properlyor are there proper watch cleaning kits i shd consider?i saw some ultrasonic cleaners (for bracelet only, not the head), but probably will stick to something simpler for now.thx againian
