Like all industries, the world of timepieces is an ecosystem. Watches are designed, produced, and eventually purchased. That latter part of the necessary cycle is one that is complex and difficult to understand - especially for watch writers and enthusiasts who typically have only their own experiences to reference. Most of the time, the relationship that brands have with journalists and consumers is very different and separate than the relationship that watch retailers have with journalists and consumers.This separation isn't always a good idea and often causes a large gap between the perceptions people buying watches have and those that the people responsible for communicating about watches have. An overall goal of mine is to better integrate the business of the watch industry with media on the watch industry. Scratched right out of the factory sealed plastic? WWYD?
Dear all,My humble thanks once again to one and all here for the kind encouragement, advice, and help procuring my 1st PP. Another poster got me thinking about scratches on his own Nautilus which got me thinking about my own Aquanaut. My 5164 Aquanaut arrived sealed in the factory packaging from the AD. When I very carefully (know my way around me watches!) opened it I noticed 2 scratches evident on the bezel at the 3 and 4 0'clock positions (see pics):[IMG][IMG]I'm guessing that they're tool marks from manufacturing but as the brushed and polished areas of these watches are so prone to scratching, that's just my guess. Looking to get back into panerai
So I'm finally looking to get back into a panerai after wearing nothing but rolex for a while. I previously had a 000 and ended up selling it as I didnt particularly love it and consequently didnt wear it much. My options at the moment are1) A use 3272) brand new 424 (no date)3) brand new 4254) used 243I personally much prefer the radiomir case shape as its closest to the old military panerais and sits flatter against my wrist, but I also really liked the 327 (surprisingly I found it more comfortable than the 000). My worry with the 327 and the radiomirs are that they only really look good on leather....so during summer it'd be difficult to wear them a lot as I am often in the water and I sweat a fair bit. I dont like the look of the submersible as much as the others but being auto and with date function it'd be more versatile. I've also tried on a 305 but found it pretty big and couldn't get a nice fit with the stock rubber strap...Which would you go for? Also what's everyone's experi

Opinions on going from 3 to 2
TRF...I bought a 3 watch set that includes a TTSub Blue, SD43, and YM2 SS...I’m really digging my SD43 as my daily wearer and surprisingly get tons of compliments on it.I really want a PM Rolex but I will not shell out more cash until I can buy one cash with ease.The Sky Dweller Gold on Gold is speaking to me. I love it’s many functions. Since the other two aren’t getting as much wrist time I’m thinking of selling them and getting the 18K Skydwelled...So I’d have my daily wearer in the SD43 and my big timer semi-daily/special event PM watch in the other.Thoughts?
