Seiko SPC153P1 wrist watches news:
On November 12, 2012, the watch collecting community watched in wonder as two of the world's most important Patek Philippe wristwatches went under the hammer at Christie's Geneva: a reference 2499 perpetual calendar chronograph in platinum?offered for sale by Eric Clapton (one of two white metal 2499s ever made, with the other belonging to Patek Philippe)?and a reference 2458 that was made especially for Joe Ben Champion, Jr. housing a movement that placed third in the 1948 Geneva Observatory competition. Each would have been the cover lot for any just about any other watch auction, but it just so happened that they were part of the same sale. On paper, many would have assumed that the Clapton 2499 would sell for more than the Champion 2458 ¨C but many would have been wrong. Champion's 2458 was the champion of the sale, bringing in over $4 million. The winner of the watch? Alfredo Paramico, who has since sold it. This unique watch came in several models for men and women and was in the catalog for about three years. The brainchild of Hamilton style head Jean-Pierre Hold, the wood dial had to be one six-thousandths of an inch which required special machinery to produce.Source: The Watch of the Future by Rene' Rondeau (4th ed)
Put the Hadley Roma on the Breitling - I waterproofed this one also so I'll let you know how it does. The other waterproofed strap performed great all summer so spraying a new strap may be a permanent step in the process of change.
I've been thinking about picking up a Chronomat 44 GMT Patroille Suisse 50th Anniversary watch. I've never owned a Breitling before; my current collection consists of 4 Rolexes and 2 Omegas. I like the look of the Chronomat, but I don't know much about Breitlings. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this timepiece. Thanks!
I must have stumped everyone with my first post or this forum is not very friendly. I will have to stick to Rolex forums where people answer posts (the polite thing to do). However the people on another forum (VRF) answered all my questions. The Rolex site must have more knowledgeable people there. I always enjoy posting and watching my post go down until out of sight w/o one reply. =) maverick
