Vacheron Constantin 81180/000G-9117 wrist watches news:
I've always thought the spacing between the case and the spring bar/strap on my watch seemed a little much, which was switched from the factory bracelet to a leather band. Recently came across some interesting info which may explain the issue. Any truth to this?"If you buy the model on a leather strap, the holes in the lugs for the pins are closer to the case...so the strap fits close to case with a very small gap. The same watch on a bracelet has the holes for the pins further away from the case. This means that if you buy the leather strap model then try to fit a bracelet at a later date, the end links will not fit. If you buy the bracelet model then fit a leather strap you will have a large gap between the strap and the case."
This watch has been in my family since 1882 and I am the 5th person to have it. I will have my name engraved on it when I feel worthy.
Panda dial ROO on rubber strap - perfect for an active lifestyle.
For the longest time, I couldn't get on board with the 6-digit maxi cases. I thought the lugs were too thick and the crown guards were too large. But that opinion was based mainly on pictures, and the handful of times I tried on maxi cases at an AD. Because of that outlook, my first two Rolex watches were the 14060M and 16710 (which are absolutely great). But that all changed about 3-4 weeks ago when I picked up a BLNR. Despite the maxi case, I couldn't resist the beautiful bezel and figured if I couldn't get used to the maxi case, the BLNR would be easy to sell. Now that I've had a few weeks of wrist time with the maxi case, it doesn't bother me one bit and I actually really like it. The difference in lug thickness between the cases seems much larger in pictures than it does in real life. Anyone else here start out opposed to the maxi cases and now your opinion has changed?
My new to me GMTc arrived a few days ago, has been loved and worn by the previous owner, it¡¯s a 2008 watch, and from what i can tell it hasn¡¯t been serviced. I¡¯m already pretty committed to taking it to an AD here in AUS, or the RSC itself in Sydney, just to get it serviced and checked over and start my journey with basically a like new watch. I know the service price is quite high, but i¡¯m willing to pay for it considering I want everything spot on and guaranteed perfect. This is pretty much a question for you Aus owners out there, do you think this is a good course of action, or do you have any recommendations in sydney that you think would do a equal if not better job for a lower price? If they can¡¯t compare in quality i¡¯m happy to hand over my money to the RSC.
