Hello All,About three months ago I rescued this old Hamilton from a dusty showcase in a local antique store. I had seen it before, but I thought it was overpriced and based on previous encounters with antique store watches, I doubted it was even in running condition.Well, I broke down and asked to see it. To my surprise, it was a runner, and it set and wound very smoothly. I was especially fascinated to see it inscribed on the back of the case:Lt Rankin from Enlisted Personnel 6 FA BrigadeThe interesting military inscription really made me want it. The dealer accepted an offer much lower than the asking price, and I took it home and began researching it. According to its serial, I believe it was made in 1938.I sent it to a watchmaker to have it serviced (Power reserve was only about ten or twelve hours, but other than that it ran strong and accurately) and to have it fitted with a tan pigskin strap.Watch just came back a few days ago, and I am very happy with the results. The watchmake
I just bought a new Speedy Professional Moonwatch from Jomashop and once I would it and checked the chronology function, I found something odd:When the chronology second hand moves between 59 seconds and 1:00, the minute sub-dial advances to show 1min. So, If i stop the chronology at 59.3 or 59.5 seconds, the watch will register 1:59.5.Has anyone else seen/experienced this? It seems like it shouldn't be happening. I looked at a friend's speedy (different model) and his chronology behavior seemed normal. Thinking I should probably return it as defective? Thanks for any advice!-Evan
I got a new one with the black leather strap with deployment clasp. It also has the NATO strap and a Velcro NASA type strap. I'm so excited I couldn't sleep last night. It should arrive tomorrow ! I don't know what else to type.
Well actually, Mississauga. Stopped by Square 1 tonight and they had one in the case. I was told it had just come in. Not something that interests me, thought someone here might appreciate the heads up.
