Baume & Mercier 10014 wrist watches news:
Sotheby's Hong Kong has just announced the highlights from their upcoming sale on October 6th. The sale will consist of 420 lots with an estimate exceeding 86 million HKD ($11 million US). The sale consists of a range of pieces from all the major watch brands with a spattering of jeweled pieces, modern wristwatches, and vintage pieces. BUT the most exciting part of the sale is the vintage Patek Philippe Reference 2523 World-Time with dual-crown. 1 OF 2 Leading the pack is an incredibly cool Patek Philippe Reference 2523/1 Yellow Gold World Time Wristwatch with 24-hour indication and double crown, made in 1968 with an estimate of 4 to 5.5 million HKD ( $510,000 to $710,000 US). The reference 2523 was an extension of Louis Cottier's famous world-time design (invented in 1931) but with a new two-crown design that was launched in 1953. This example, a 2523-1, features a guilloché dial that is part of a limited production of 20. This watch is fresh to the market
Hi;This is my first posting.I've decided to purchase an Omega Flightmaster Cal. 911 when a decent watch becomes available.I realise cost will depend on condition, but I'm curious to hear thoughts on restored watches versus those in original condition.I'd like to buy something in as good condition as possible, and both restored or original condition (if serviced correctly) could fit the bill. What would make the better purchase, both in terms of value and wear.Regards.
While looking more and more at watches and considering a possible buy in the mid range 2000/3000 US$ price rank I come to a sad conclusion. I'd like to ask you whether it is me or do some of you, with much deeper knowledge of horology, also share this idea. The conclusion is that there are those who can make fine watches but don't care about design and those who sell nice designs but seem to be unable to offer anything but a relatively plain ETA at incredible high price.Seiko or Orient have many beautiful designs in the 200 US$ rank and have great movements which put in just a few designs. For example the Premier and its 6R20 I asked about a week ago is still my number one option but it leaves little options as far as designs, it is available in just a few versions which I don't dislike but which are not the best even of what Seiko can do.Then there are Rado, Movado, Sinn and many many others who can handle HardMetal, Ceramic, Tegiment tech and whatever ultra hard material just to put
... made me want to take a pic of a watch with something other than my iPhone lol. Since my iPhone was getting lonely, I used it to snap some pics of the setup.
While there are so many beautiful Complications and Grand Complications that Patek makes, I thought it would be nice to show some love and appreciation for the simpler time pieces that Patek makes.... So let's show some love for the Calatrava's....:c lap:
