Elgin ww find - advice/thoughts?
Hello - My first post herehope I do things right. Just the other day found a 1929 Elgin from a local shop here in Poland for almost nothing. Longines Autochron repairs, is it worth it?
I have been given this Longines Autochron. It is in a 14 karat gold case. Probably purchased in USA around 1969. The only words on the back are "14 Karat gold" and "Use 1175 Wrench".Longines Gold Watch.jpgIt ran for an hour or two when I received it but will not now run although I have worn it for long enough to wind. Is it worth spending about 80 Pounds sterling to repair it and should I entrust it to my local shop?I am also puzzled about how to change the date without winding the hands round and round.I would be grateful for help on this model.Ken

Buckle to Watch Case or Buckle to Strap ?
Although the answer should be obvious that you match your buckle color to your case, and I have done that with all my watches.And I know this is just a matter of personal taste, but what about matching the buckle to the strap and not the case.So this would be in instances of black or charcoal watch straps where you have a black PVD/DLC buckle but your case is not, such as SS, tungsten even bronze.I have tried this but I am not sold on the idea, but it sure would open up some idea's for my black watch bands that I have.If you have pictures of this type of configuration please post them.

So, tonight I had the honour, fortune and joy of attending a Patek event at my local AD, they had a combination of fine food and champagne, and the watches that dreams are made of. Basel 2016 releases and classics (Except 5711). One of the staff kindly reminded me that the chances of having this volume of pieces in the same room together again are slim to none.
