I find it funny that Rolex, a Co that prides itself on Mechanical watches almost exclusively, uses DIGITAL, QUARTZ Timmers for Wimbledon. Come on guys why not build a BIG COSC Timer that is automatic, heeeAnyway, I just thought the irony of this is funny.Note I am a mechanical watch guy for sure, but I appreciate the value of a great quartz watch like the Citizen Atomic Skyhawk TI that I am wearing. After about 2 months of Milgauss GV fun I've decided I cannot live without the date any longer on my daily wear watch. I'll still keep the Milly for a fun evening out or a dressy event. My first Rolex (now 12 years old) the Explorer II is being pulled from moth balls. This watch is incredible and to this day runs consistently at +/- 0 per day. I just checked it on a 2 day test after pulling it back out. That said, it is dry - or worse perhaps some water had gotten in. I can hear the rotor moving as the watch is rotated. I am certain I want it serviced and lubed at the Dallas RSC. I hope it will still be as flawlessly accurate afterward.I am certain I do not want a new dial. Lum is less important to me that originality. This not from a $ value standpoint, but rather as a "This is my watch, I got when I landed my first big promotion".What I am not certain about is the cosmetic refinish. Paying in Advance for the SS Daytona
Has anyone paid in advance for the SS Daytona to be able to be on a priority list instead of just a list of interested customers?? I was told by my local AD that this is a new approach. They cant guarantee a delivery date BUT when one becomes available the customer will be notified and it is also a way to gauge the seriousness of the people that want it. I just want to see if anyone has heard of this tactic and or has experience it and would love to hear the outcome. Thanks in Advance.
