Piaget GOA37189 wrist watches news:
People asked to see some of my Ebels, so here's one to start what will be a series of posts over the next few weeks. But first, a little history. Many know this story, but perhaps many more do not. Ebel is one of those strangely obscure brands; they are loved by many watch enthusiasts, but dismissed by others as being a fashion brand. I suspect the reasons behind the dismissal are two-fold: They are owned by the Movado Group, and they seem to have specialized in ladies watches, most of which have...quartz...movements.Let me say this about that. Yes, they sell quartz watches, and yes, they have during various periods (including now, unfortunately) specialized in ladies watches. But their ladies watches are really just plain spectacular. One reason I get away with having 1.) nice watches, and 2.) a happy marriage is that my wife's watch collection is easily as valuable as mine. But sparkly things float her boat, rather than the mechanical beating heart that floats mine. Her Ebel Brasilia
Lets say I want to buy a Rolex worth $5,000 If I immediately think about it, I'd say it's way out of my reach at the moment. But is it?I was generally pondering about it and something just struck me...Say, on an average, I spend about $100 (though, its close to $200) on watches(or maybe a couple of nigh outs) every month, that I'm most likely to flip in a few months or so. This money isn't a big deal, especially since I'm unmarried, and is likely to be spent elsewhere, if not on watches. Keep in mind, this money is in NO (note the emphasis on NO ) way, a part of your savings!Ok, so instead of spending that $100 there, does it make sense to take a small loan and buy the Rolex instead? Even, if you can just afford a minimum of $100 a month...it'll mean paying for about 5 yrs (including interest). 5 years for a watch that's likely to last you a lifetime and it'll be something that I'd love to wear everyday. I'd be happy to flip all my other watches (leaving the OM and EL) and keep just 3
This will be my last post re white rubber straps, but would love to get your advice on which of these 2 to keep in my collection. If and when I get to the point where I have to unload either the ROO Navy or the customized ROO Blue, which one would you keep?Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

I do fly pretty regularly. Stayed on the plane during a short stop. Pilot came through the cabin to shoot the breeze. We chatted about his watch and his wife bought it for him waaaaay back in the day and he told me he almost told her to return it when he found out how much she spent.I wasn't changing time zones so I didn't have the BLNR on but he was super happy to hear about how much a totally original GMT is worth these days!
