Pre-SIHH: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duom¨¨tre ¨¤ Quanti¨¨me Lunaire 40.5
Next month at SIHH Jaeger-LeCoultre will introduce the new Duom¨¨tre ¨¤ Quanti¨¨me Lunaire 40.5 – a slightly smaller version of the original 42.5mm watch that debuted in 2010. The new model’s case measures 13.07 mm thick and is 18k pink gold. Production is not limited.Jaeger-LeCoultre’s goal with the Duom¨¨tre series is to develop complicated watches that keep time with great accuracy. The goal is achieved by means of the Caliber 381’s “dual-wing” design which features two independent power supplies: one regulated by the escapement and balance, and the other for the time, date and age of the moon displays. This arrangement takes the complications out of the power loop, so to speak, allowing a smooth flow of energy to the escapement. As an added horological bonus, this piece incorporates a jumping foudroyante seconds hand showing 1/6th of a second incrementsplete technical specifications appear below the image.Technical SpecificationsMovement? Seiko seems to get all the love when it comes to vintage Japanese dive watches, but Citizen was also producing some top notch tool divers in the 1970's. One of their most popular divers with collectors today is the now classic model 52-0110. Made in the late 1970's, the Citizen 52-0110 was similar in many respects to its Seiko counterparts, the 6105 and 6309 divers.While the Seiko had some pretty radical case design elements, the Citizen is more classically styled. The large, solid stainless steel case measures a healthy 40mm wide by just over 46mm long and nearly 14mm thick. Large, straight lugs set at 20mm wide give it a sturdy feel on the wrist. The large crown is at 3 o'clock, and screws down for superior water resistance.
