1000th Post Milestone
Hooray! I reached 1,000 posts! I'll keep this Rolex related! I'll briefly tell my story of becoming a collector of the brand. But, my first Swiss Chronometer wasn't a Rolex: It all started in 1997. We had some family visiting from India for my sister's wedding. One guest wanted to buy a Rolex for her husband, so my Dad took her to one of our two local AD's (this has become my preferred AD of today). That fell through (she didn't buy) but since that time, I became interested by Rolex. 1 year later, I made my Dad buy his first: 15210 SS Oyster Perpetual Date. He was mad at me for making him spend $2,560 on a watch, but that passed. ;) Now, I have one that matches and was my first Rolex, given to me by my wife on our wedding day (his has a silver dial, mine has a black dial).My 15210:Growing up, I would keep a pocket Rolex catalog in my desk at home to remind me of why I was studying hard (a Rolex could be my reward). I know that this movements can't be hand wound, so how can you keep them running, without using a winder (I think that a winder works on this) or wearing them all the time...Do you shake them from time to time???

.....this is the last of the watches I can afford to get today .....but it is the second Hamilton, 1 Benrus and the Enicar......eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low pricesthe photos aren't very good, but I do love that dial ....and it appears to be a Hamilton Illinois .....Are they rarer that the regular Hamilton ? .....DId I do ok with this one ? ....or perhaps I should wait and ask that question when I have the watch in hand .....oh boy oh boy oh boy ! ....got 4 watches coming in the maiil .....I always feel like the folks in this video when I am waiting for watches to arrive!I can't find the original.....does anyone know about this remake ? ....never heard of it ......it's not bad actually.....the kid playing Opies role looks more like a New York newsboy than a small town lisping redheaded kid....

On a recent trip to the mall, I visited several watch dealers checking out different pieces. And it occurred to me that most people in jewelry stores don't have a clue on what they are trying to sell. Like "This watch is set with the atomic clock" (It didn't), or "this crystal is scratch proof" (they were referring to a mineral crystal). Thought it would be a cool thread. What is the craziest thing you have been told or overheard a sales person say at a store?
