Romain Jerome RJ.T.AU.SP.003.01 wrist watches news:
Every brand needs to be known for something. In the case of M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte, the first thing that pops into my mind is humble excellence. With the M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte Teutonia II Grossdatum Chronometer, a timepiece for professionals, the German brand has further established itself as one of those sneaky-clever periphery names giving consumers a whole lot of bang for their buck.M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte has a long history. Founded in 1869 in Glash¨¹tte, Germany, a hot-bed of horological happenings, the M¨¹hle family set-up shop manufacturing measuring instruments. Through two world wars and countless political uncertainties, the M¨¹hle brand grew and grew. Today, the fifth generation of leadership proudly manufactures timepieces on a relatively modest scale. I have always been a fan of M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte for their watches' unassuming competence. Where other brands may kick and scream for your attention, M¨¹hle-Glash¨¹tte quietly takes its cues from the market and then creates a muted model that ticks most al
I posted the "before" picture of this Benrus a few months back. My brother worked in the HVAC field and had found it in a heating duct. From the looks of the watch it was probably in there for decades. Well here is the "after" picture. It keeps amazing time and looks pretty decent too. This is the first Benrus in my collection that consists mainly of Gruen, Hamilton and Illinois. I usually wear older vintage watches (20's and 30's) and I'm surprised at how sleek and comfortable this is on the wrist. Now I might have to go hunting for the Skychief!
Does any one know which quartz movement is in this watch I'm thinking an ETA which one?
I recently was the high bidder on a nice looking Cushion Plain. Here's one of the seller's slighly out of focus pictures:After a three week journey from the Great White North, the watch has arrived in sunny South Florida. Here is a more detailed dial picture:I had thought that the dial was too clean, it might be a redial. Now I'm not so sure. All the printing is very sharp, much better than expected.Movement seems to be in good condition, with a palindromic serial number:Why a "Happy Birthday" Hamilton? Well, it arrived today, June 1, 2009, and has this inscription: Presented eighty years ago today. And the original owner started work 105 years ago. I should look so good when I'm eighty! Happy Birthday Hamilton, gatorcpa
A buddy of mine who used to work for my dept, but went to a neighboring dept, recently broke his ankle in a foot pursuit. Looks like he may be out many months. Since he's on crutches he's unable to do any yardwork. He lives on about 1 acre with many, many trees. Knowing his leaf problem I organized a clean up day today at his house. About six of us showed up and after about 5 hours of work we have his place all shaped up. A supervisor of his asked if I still collected firearms. I responded that I'm more into vintage watches. He asked about what age, and if they needed to be running. He also asked what shift I'm working. Hmmmmmm.....I wonder if there may be another watch in my future, or maybe he has something he wants me to look at.....
