On June 29th of this year, we showed you a simple looking watch – one made of stainless steel with a simple self-winding movement inside – that got a lot of people excited. I'm talking about the Tudor Heritage Black Bay ONE Reference 7923/001, a unique watch made for Only Watch 2015. The watch is a variation on the existing Tudor Black Bay, with a black bezel and dial and hands that resemble those found on one of Tudor's most collectible and sought after vintage pieces, the reference 7923 seen here when we went inside the Tudor vault. Not only is it great looking, but it's also the very first confirmed unique watch to ever come from Tudor. It's not an Adam ....so what is it ? er... help ?
........got this puppy back from my watch guy today, ....although this is a photo from when I got it.....and I took myself over to the catalogs and diligently scrolled through looking for a match ....and thought I had it in Adam.....but then I looked closer ....everything matched ....except the numbers arranigment .....Adam has them at 12, 3,6 and 9 whereas this one is evne numbers, 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 .......aarrggghhh....the case looks the same, the H and the Hamilton name placement, the sub dial second hand ......it is one of the only cushion -y shape of the 50s and 60s.....most of the square ones have straight lines.....and the band is close, but not exactly at least for the Adam that is .....did Hamilton ever use Spiedel bands ? whacha think?

Speedmaster sapphire caseback fitting
Just thought I would share with you my Speedy caseback transformation utilising a Thomas Preik sappire caseback. This is an easy DIY job and all you need is a tool that has an end like this:You simply adjust to size and unscrew the existing caseback. Here's mine from 1969 for anyone that hasn't seen a pre-moon Speedy caseback obviously lacking the FIRST WATCH ON THE MOON wording When the caseback is removed you will be faced with a shiny dust cover which just needs prising off with something sharp to get into the join.After having removed this you will need to sit the spacer provided with the caseback on top of the movement edge. The spacer looks like this: And when in place like this:Next is to make sure the new caseback is clean so careful of finger marks. This is the inside of it.And simply screw it back in place, initially finger tight and then with the tool.I absolutely love it since it seemed such a shame to keep the glorious 861 manual wind movement under wraps.The website for
