My next purchase is going to be a Datejust 116200 with a domed bezel and Jubilee bracelet, I want these to be my dress watch and I'm torn between these two dials:Left: Concentric black with Arabic numeralsRight: White with Roman numeralsWhat do you think? Which one do you like best?I believe the numerals in the black are filled with luminova and I like that, but on the other hand I guess that makes it more sporty.I believe that the hands that come with the white one have no luminova, do they?
As many of you know, a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the AP Museum in Le Brassus. Here are some pictures of that unforgettable day and the rest of the story and more pictures are here. We started our journey by driving from Z¨¹rich to Le Brassus. I switched watches a few times to send out a few tweets while on our way to Audemars Piguet. Finally we arrived at the Vall¨¦e de Joux. After admiring the landscape we made it to the manufacture and then to the museum. What a day!
I recently bought an old Seamaster (case reference 166.042) which I decided would be a good candidate for a restoration by Omega in Bienne. The dial - which is one of the reasons I liked the watch - has some issues, and so the watch needs more than just a polishing and a cleaning. A true craftsman will need to restore the dial, or better yet maybe Omega has a spare original dial laying around to replace the dial. :) Here are some before pictures showing the dial (since that is the area that I think needs the most work):The movement seems to keeping good time, so it is mostly (I hope) a matter of restoring the dial, polishing the case, and making it look good as new. After going through the process of finding out the what, how etc. for sending a watch to Omega in Switzerland, I thought I would post a thread, show the before pictures and update the thread as the process moves along.Ultimately I hope to post the after photos as well.I started by sending an email to Omega customer serv
Greetings all,I apologize if this question has been asked. I am interested in purchasing some exotic straps (gator, etc) from overseas and had a few questions I'm hoping some of the experts can help me on..1. Will the exotic straps make it thru US customs? If not, I'll just order CONUS.2. If I purchase exotic straps, am I contributing to the demise of any endangered species, if so then forget question 1. Leather it is.thanks for your help.Joe
