- The watch is gorgeous and has a large face! Husband loves the clasp on the watch! The clasp eliminates wear and tear on the leather itself from pulling and tugging to fit into holes! great watch!

I Finished a VERY Nice WWI Elgin Trench Watch Today w/ Shrapnel Guard !
Hey guys !I finished the restoration on a VERY nice 1916 WWI Elgin Trench Watch with a Shrapnel Guard today so I thought that I'd share my results.This is a REAL WWI solid nickel Shrapnel Guard and NOT that CHEAP chrome plated reproduction that is flooding ebay right now.It has the "PAT/PEND/DUO" stamp underneath on the rim, it's the real McCoy ! ! ! No-name solid nickel case, I have concluded through my extensive research that in all likelihood Joeseph Fahy's & Company probably manufactured this case.These cases are probably my favorite, they were VERY well made and they snap together with an extremely firm "POP" ! ! !I installed a brand new inner sleeve in the crown tube and a brand new stem on the original factory crown, brand new GS crystal as well.The 7 jewel 1916 gilded size 3/0s movement has been completely taken apart and cleaned.The enamel military dial is in SUPERB without and hairlines, chips or cracks !I painted the center reservoir of the hour and minute hands with whi

I have to admit that this watch has caught my eye. But I don't know anything about this particular ETA movement. Anyone own this watch or care to comment on the movement?The 21st century ¡°Frogman¡± by Hamilton is made of titanium and is water resistant to a depth of 200 meters, 150 meters deeper than its 1940s predecessors. Thanks to a special coating, the titanium achieves a resistance equal to that of steel (600 Vickers). The coating also deters scratching and fingerprints. A screw-down crown protector on the 40 mm case confirms its determination to keep out the enemy ¨C water. ¡°Frogman¡± has a sapphire glass and a Swiss ETA 2895.2 automatic movement, which is partially visible through a window at the rear of the case.

with a little Christmas jingle in my pocket what better way to spend it than on a watch. i have never really liked the panerai style watches but somehow the unique simplicity caught up with me. a quick price check on isle 5g had me thinking that it was just a passing fancy. well, i've been camped out on the web all day and discovered that there could still be a way to scratch the itch..homage..i think i have found the source for the best (for me) alternative. it has to be sterile. that alone knocked out nearly everything i could find on the web. i was finally able to locate one that even let me custom order the features that i wanted. i picked the lume, hands, case finish, band and color. i even ordered a saphire crystal (i have dought it's true saphire) but we will see. i figure the worst that can happen is that this will become a project watch if the movement craps out on me or it shows up DOA. in that case i will have to shop for another movement which should'nt be too difficult. sh
