Newbie with Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph
Hi everyone,Just joined this forum and would like share with everyone my new time-piece. It's an Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph (most people will know from the pictures anyway) and I got it on Boxing Day to replace my old, battered Citizen chronograph. Plus it's a 25th birthday present to myself, my first 'proper' watch I've bought/owned. I know the watch isn't to everyone's tastes, especially being in orange, but I chose this colour as I've spent a year looking for a watch, from Tags to Rolex's to Breitlings, and none have caught my eye as much as this particular model. Everytime I look at it, I know it's going to take quite a while before I'm bored of looking at it, something I've been worried about when looking for a watch/time-piece. The anti-reflective coating on the front and back of the glass also gives the face a distinct blue tint in certain light and the sheer size of the dials makes it easier to see the time! Hello Everyone,I am new to the Patek world but have always loved these watches. I was in the motherland of these awesome machines a few years back, visited a dealer and fell in love with them there and then.I have always been a Rolex guy and have owned a handful and still have a few favorites I decided to hold onto. Now I am "softly" in the morket for a Calatrava ( I like the 3919 ) as a dress watch to be worn only on special occasions etc. I wear a GMT as a daily watch now.I prefer white gold and I hope you guys can help me with a few questions.1) Mechanical over Autois this a cost and value difference or preference is one lesssought after than another?2) Is a particular watch or year a less desirable piece than another?3) Not specific but what is the market bringing for the mechanical and auto's these days?I thank you in advance for any advice you fine folks can offer.Kind regards,Shane

Hi allfirst post here, I'm really hoping you guys can give me some advice.Amongst other things, part of my business is pawnbroking. I lent against a solid 18k Buren Intramatic a while back, and as the guy didn't come back in for it it's time to consider my disposal options.Essentially, I'm after an idea of what this timepiece might be worth as-is, or after some restoration. The value of the gold in the watch itself is around ¡ê615/$1200 at today's prices, and I'm assuming the movement might be worth a little on top of that.I've been quoted around $100 to repair the bracelet - it has a little bit of damage on both sides where it joins the case, $400 for a full service, and $300 (gulp!) to fit a crystal to replace the partly-scratched plastic one currently in place. I'm not entirely sure, but I think this last price may have included a new face too, though I think the existing one is probably salvageable.The watch does run, though the crown is stiff and I've not attempted to change the
