Seiko SUR824 wrist watches news:
As a brand, Tissot really seems to be on quite a tear as of late. They have had quite a few notable new releases over the last few months, and now we are getting word of a sort of second wave. Most of them seem like reasonable additions to the lineup, but there is one in particular that caught our attention: the Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Squelette. As you can quite readily tell from the photos here, this is a skeleton watch (and that's what squelette translates to from French ¨C skeleton). I've been spending more time looking at and thinking about skeleton watches in the last year or so, and I have come to the conclusion that they are particularly hard to do. There are some brands that have it absolutely nailed down on the higher end of the luxury spectrum; when you start coming down closer to the realm of the "affordable" watches, things become hit-and-miss.The single biggest problem that faces a skeleton watch is readability. Since there is no dial, a lot of attention is given to the
Hey guys ! ! !I just finished up with this one about an hour ago, I'm very pleased with the results ! !This is a 1904 Elgin Transition Wrist Watch. It started out life in a pocket watch case but was then re-cased into this Philly case that was made in 1916-1917.Hence, transition piece.Size 6s grade 295 movement with 15 jewels.Giant 38mm Philadelphia "Silverode" case with the original factory crown.(usually they were MUCH smaller, around 31mm-32mm)ORNATE enamel Roman numeral dial that is SUPERB with a glossy finish ! ! ! ! !New glass crystal, new mainspring, new genuine Buffalo band, new inner sleeve on the crown tube. The new inner sleeve was the hardest part believe it or not, the exact replacement part is HARD to come by these days.I'll be rock'n this one for a few days ! ! ! ! ! ! !The movement looks SUPERB for being 108 years old ! ! !
with watches these days? weeks ago, a discussion was made about how we are getting a little 'unfascinated' with the watch industry. do you still feel the same 3 weeks later? What are you really hoping to see? big boys new creation OR just something unheard of yet with a interesting design/history?Sure big boys have the budget to do great marketing and positioning of the brand name. and able to give cutting edge technology and incorporate rare materials like palladium and platinum in the watches.but today i see another side of small watchmaking town. This is just a little insight to what I did today. I am really sorry no pictures, I cant upload anything here. Will do so in 2 weeks time when I am back. P.S. I am now at Interlaken, and this place is so beautiful, you cannot imagine.....when I look out of my window, I see the blue lake, and the snow-capped mountain just right outside, it is so magnificent and close-up.......pity i cant and dont know how to ski. it's abit cold here but stil
As is my custom when looking at a watch brand with which I'm not familiar, I go to the bay and see how much and what's for sale. I did a search on the Swiss forum without much success and now I'm here. Any one have one of these of recent manufacture? I must admit I'm quite taken by a tank style Perrelet A1021 Power Reserve Automatic men's watch, Day & Date.
Hello all, just picked up an Omega Seamaster 300m Professional at a local pawnbrokers hence although I know its a genuine example I have no paperwork, my question is does any one know how to date the watch from the serial no. I have checked on a couple of sites but the serial no.s seem only to be available upto 1998.''''''''''''''''''Mark
