Right decision?
OK, for most of you WISes, maybe is the right decision, but maybe for others won'tMy 3 year old daughter dropped some days ago my only digital camera (Canon Powershot S5 IS), and it simply got destroyed because it went down stairs Well, that was a good excuse to get a DSLR, but unfortunately too much expense in watches in the last two months (including new purchases and restorations) so, the DSLR should wait at least one more month...So, considering that anyway I will buy the DSLR, I thought that no need for another P&Sand the money that I took away for the new P&S purchase now is gone in watches (again )This, because I got a super duper deal, and I got (well will have them in my hands in two or three weeks) Seiko BM and OM with bracelet, from an online store (no need to remove non-sponsor link :D) both with box, international warranty and manual for $300 It was a deal hard to pass up, so I will not have digital camera for a while, but come on, who need pics I'm becoming the bi

Attention or Low Key?
I often read about some members getting "compliments" on their watches.This has happened to me ,perhaps, three times in 25 years and,each time, it was from someone who was familiar with watches.Today I wore 2 watches.One was the Omega Planet Ocean (orange bezel) which IMHO is a beautiful timepiece but not a real attention grabber among the non-WIS community.The other was a nice looking CF dial chrono. The CF dial really jumps out ,nearly to the point of overpowering the rest of the dial.It dawned on me that 90% of my collection was very traditional as far as watch design is concerned and that may be why I get few comments. (which I prefer)Upon looking at the other 10% I saw that they were the Big,MOP,CF dials,or odd shaped that ,although pretty, were not something that I view as a major factor in buying a watch. They are more jewelry ingredients than watch design to me.I suppose that I am an old school watch guy who enjoys his watches as timepieces over jewelry.

ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE - Daytona and Royal Oak
Firstly, please know that I am not a habitual flipper....more of a keeper. I have a TT Sub, BLNR, Milgauss GV, 216570, and a WG DD President.I bought a new SS Daytona last Christmas which I am sorry to say I have simply not fallen in love with. It will definitely be leaving my collection.I have an offer of 8,250€ from a shop here in France, which I am prepared to accept.The shop has a 41mm AP Royal Oak SS 15400 that was new in May 2013, full set, virtually un-worn. His asking price is 10,600€.....so I'm guessing I could do the trade for my Daytona and around 2,000€. There is a pic of the actual watch below. I am a Rolex man, and am new to AP.I will value my fellow TRFers advice and opinions on this possible trade....I am going to the shop tomorrow.Thank you one and all.

After so many years lurking on this forum, I finally got one!
A bit of history, I am a die hard Omega fan so every nice watch in my collection is an OmegaHere is a family shot of some of them.I joined TRF as I wanted to add a Rolex BLNR but wandered into the Patek forums. I always thought one day I will own a Calatrava. Then I started seeing the Patek sport watches and got hooked. Changing my mind on what my first Patek would be. I actually tried last year but as you all know, certain watches are always hard to get. So instead I added the DSOM while I waited.Then I noticed a post a few weeks ago from BillA and took his lead on one I was looking for as no local dealers had any. Well I am happy to say it worked out. I have not touched it yet as my wife received it for me. Can't wait to size it when I get home.Box in packing peanutsFamiliar BoxLooks so shinyMy first Patek!
