Seiko SNE139 wrist watches news:
Cartier drives home its iconic design codes in the Drive de Cartier, its new shaped men¡¯s collection, introduced this week at SIHH 2016 in Geneva. The cushion-shaped case of the Drive de Cartier is the latest creation designed to reinvigorate the brand¡¯s longstanding tradition of shaped watches. The collection has all the Cartier design codes: guilloch¨¦ inner dial, railroad chapter ring, Roman numerals, highly defined proportions and an element of fine watchmaking mechanics.Aside from the elegant case shape, two outstanding features place the Drive de Cartier definitively in the category of elegant dress watches: the slim tapered profile, or galbe as the French call it, makes it look like an ultra-slim watch, even though it is a fairly standard 11.5 mm thick; and the pattern of the guilloch¨¦ center, which is uniquely repeated on the outside of the chapter ring, adds elegance. Drive is a full collection, with seven references, including two complications. The Fine Watchmaking version is
Christie’s November 16 Geneva auction set nine world record prices for Patek and Rolex references on the way to achieving the highest total for any watch auction in 2009: SFr. 19,032,388, or just under $19 million. This was nearly twice the pre-sale low estimate. The results reflected sales of 97% by value and 94% by lot. 900 bidders from 5 continents participated in the sale live, online and on the telephone. The top price of SFr. 2,400,000 was paid for a Patek Philippe ref. 1526 perpetual calendar wristwatch. Rounding out the top 5 were a gold 1924 Patek single-button chronograph at SFr. 939,000, a platinum Patek ref. 3448/100 perpetual calendar with moon phases at SFr. 783,000, a pink gold Patek ref. 2438/1 perpetual calendar at SFr. 711,000, and a gold Patek ref. 1579 chronograph at SFr. 675,000. Vacheron Constantin's Harmony line drew praise after revealing the thinnest self-winding split-seconds mono-pusher chronograph a month ago. Then it drew more praise with its mono-pusher doctor's chronograph, which employed similar technical innovation on a more reserved scale. All together, this collection of new calibers took seven years of research and development, and you can bet that a decent chunk of that went to coupling the improved chronograph with an improved tourbillon.Vacheron's new Tourbillon Chronograph utilizes the same 42 mm cushion-shaped case as the other pieces of the Harmony collection. From a design perspective, it is difficult to successfully evoke a 1920's motif in a 21st-century watch, but the manufacture has done a good job in this respect. 1 OF 3 On the dial, Vacheron has captured a particular old-school legibility in a contemporary way. The silvered-opaline dial with thickly-painted blue Arabic numerals and a red minute-track prod
now that my 2005 ROC is starting to lose time (not much) i'm thinking of sending it in for a service and valet... its pretty scratched up but nothing i cant live with. I would avoid having it polished if i wasnt 100% sure it would still have those nice sharp edgesHow has you're experience been with AP service/valet?thanks
The avenger II GMT in black steel is available at my local Costco for $2,999. I'm normally not a Breitling guy (own a Rolex Submariner ND, Omega Planet Ocean, Omega Deville GMT) but I am thinking about getting this. Would the experts here consider this a good price for this watch considering it's being sold through a non-AD channel?
