(Images and Press Release - Patek Philippe SA)Patek Philippe Ladies - Minute Repeater Ref. 7000Self-winding minute repeater of technical brilliance in an irresistibly feminine interpretationWatches with minute repeaters have always ranked among the rarest, most precious, and most elaborate timepieces. In an extremely compact space, their intricate inner life brings together hundreds of individual parts that interact and function in harmony, or move next to each other with minimal clearances, without making contact. The objective of the effort is to strike the time displayed on the dial with the best possible acoustic sonority. And so, at 3:34 for instance, the time is indicated with a dong-dong-dong for the hours on a low-pitched gong, a ding-dong, ding-dong on both gongs for the quarter-hours, and a ding-ding-ding-ding for the minutes on the high-pitched gong. Technical finesse that makes time so seductively audible is bound to attract the attention of women as well. Patek Philippe de
Hi Everyone:I've been looking at Tom's posts and there seems to be a reoccurring theme - the black enamel dials seem to be a favorite of everyone here (or at least, most everyone). They generally appear to have a clean look and they add to the vintage look of the watch. It's interesting to think that the 18K gold applied numeral was a more expensive dial and it was far more commonly sold than the enamel dials were. This begs the question - if enamel dials were more common, would we then prefer the applied gold numeral? Do we like the enamel dials because they are rarely seen and are more of a novelty?Unlike Hamilton's typical applied gold numeral dial, I do like the applied gold numeral on the Webster (see Tom's Webster post - Vintage Model for Friday, Oct. 24th - Webster ) because it has Breguet Numerals as opposed to the more typical stylized "Hamilton Numeral" dials that became more popular in 1935 and continued thereafter. Take a look at these examples:Enamel Dial on a Mont Vern
I see many new Hamiltons that are being sold in places like Singapore and Hong Kong. Are these legit or are they knock offs?
