Today I was given my grandfathers retirement watch. It was presented to him in 1970 for his retirement. As a child I aways was drawn to this watch, my grandfather always wore it 24 hours a day, yes he slept with it on too, something I could never do, but I always remember going over to him and turning his wrist just so I could see it, some times he would let me try it on I was maybe 5 or 6 years of age and this watch felt huge but still to me it was the most the most special thing ever. After my grandfather passed away the watch was presented to my younger brother but he refused to take it and it has sat in my a drawer in my fathers home for over 20 years. I asked my father if I could have it, but even though it belonged to my brother I still needed his permission. So today I was finally handed something that I have ogled for 40 years. To some this watch may not seem much, but I do not believe any watch that I will ever get will have as much importance to me as this one, it's my dream

Hey guys !I was going through my bins looking for a dial the other day and I came across these other dials.I guess that these poor souls were just not meant to survive history (or survive some hack that didn't know what he/she was doing).I NEVER toss dials out, they just go into the bins and are saved for some reason or another.Some might be used one day but all have sustained major damage that has ruined them in one way or another.Darn shame that they were not taken better care of as some of them are quite rare, I would pay an insane amount for some of them in pristine condition like the last RED 12 Elgin near the bottom ! ! !Elgin size 6s, hand painted.Elgin size 0s, tri-color.Hayward Watch Company with a "USA" stamp, size 0s, two tone.Waltham size 0s, USA stamp, Arabic.Elgin size 0s, BOLD Roman numeral RED XII.Elgin size 3/0s, Star Dial.Elgin size 3/0s, metal dial with a RED 12 and a "USA" stamp, 11-17 date stamp, faded RED 12, (very rare factory metal RED 12).Lancet, Lignes 15 3/8,

Picked up a nice two tone Royal oak, absolutely loving it. Just wished I could take a decent close up with my Nikon Got quoted ¡ê150 for a service from a local independent Watchmaker, can i trust him to deal with an AP? *amended
