Swatch SVCK4032G wrist watches news:
I'm catching some Bond flicks, and Thunderball is on tonight. It's not my favorite, but any Bond is better than none. I had to back up and get a shot of this because I couldn't believe my eyes - Bond wearing a Breitling Top Time! I always thought it was either Rolex or Omega in all the movies.
Hey guys, just a quick clearance,my friend shot some pics over about a watch he wanted to buy. am I right that this is a no-no? I'm not much of a Rolex guy, but the price is too good to be true (and you now what they say about that)...any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks for reading!!!EDIT: my friend just called and told me that the seller said that the movement has been changed to an ETA, but other than that the watch is genuine...hmm, I spell scam
Here at WTF we all dig watches, and lots of us are into the oldies. But back in the 1930s-1960s in addition to making some great watches, the USA was the king of watchband production. There were many different brands and lots of designs. Watch companies paid close attention to the style and pattern of bands that were fitted as "original equipment" to their watches. When a watch was purchased new, the metal band was often an upgrade, so some folks went with a strap to save a few bucks.Eventually the strap wore out and had to be replaced, and I'll bet that more than a few people realized they might have been better off with the metal band from the start. The good bands weren't inexpensive. In 1950 a gallon of gasoline was 18 cents, car was ~$1500, the average yearly income was ~$3200, a new house was ~$8500, and a quality expansion could cost up to $15 or more. These top-shelf expanding-bracelets are amazing examples of mid-century manufacturing, made of precision stampings of stainless steel
Hello all,I was hoping someone could provide me with some info on this chronograph I purchased this weekend at a flea market. It¡¯s a Heuer 30 minute chronograph. It works great (I tested the accuracy against my iPhone stopwatch). I am assuming it is from the early '70s (before Tag bought Heuer). The casing seems like a very sturdy plastic and the crystal seems acrylic.Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I purchased the product for $20 (no box, no papers). Thanks!
Dear All,I have a rant...aumh, no a question. Is there any reason not to have a crystal back on a watch? I am now traveling and meeting old friends, and one of them share some interest for watches. He claims he wants to buy a Audemars Piguet and asked if I wanted to go with him to visit his watchmaker. Actually, I don't know how serious he is and I suspect that knowing that AP are a sort of obsession of mine, obsession which probably will remain as such for a long time, and that where I live there are no AP dealers he just wanted to give me a perfect opportunity to go visit the dealer without feeling guilty. Anyway, whatever the reason, I am not a person who say no to the proposal of going to an AP dealerNow he asked a lot of informations on the watch he claim he wants (a Jules Audemars) and I got advantage of the situation and asked some informations about my favourite one, the Royal Oak Offshore Diver. "His" watch was not at the dealer so he only asked and looked at a catalog but "mi
