The romantic notion of a handmade watch is one that doesn't stand very much exposure to the present world of watchmaking. For many decades, the overwhelming majority of components found in series produced watches have been produced by multi-axis milling machines, and if today you visit pretty much any watch manufactory from the smallest to the largest, you'll see that most parts are being made by computer controlled (CNC) machines. There are any number of practical reasons why this is so, of course (and in general, everyone has benefited, including consumers) but it's interesting to look back occasionally to watches made at a time when handmade meant just that – and when the skill of the hands doing the making was instantly visible. Planet Ocean from AD
I've had a Sea-Dweller 16600 for about 4 years now, and had Subs before that, and have decided that I want a 42mm Planet Ocean with the Orange numbers, bracelet and black bezel. Coming from the Rolex world where the AD's aren't prone to discounting, I wonder what sort of discount I might get from an Omega AD. Are they more likely to make a deal since it is a discontinued model now?

Hey guys Im new to Panerai and have a simple question I hope someone can help me out with or ease my mind. I wear my PAM1024 in rotation so it runs down and I have to reset it when I wear it. I hand wind it first before I set it but it will not start running until I hold the watch and spin it around. This seems to kick start it I guess you could say. I dont have to do this with any of my other watches for example my Breitling second hand starts to move after about 20 turns of the crown.Is this normal for Panerai or do you think it needs to be serviced?Thanks for any help
