Though I try to?analyze watches from a purely objective standpoint, La Mon¨¦gasque from Roger Dubuis made me consider the peculiar way that my perception of a watch can be partially influenced by the character of the person?wearing that watch. On the wrong individual, this watch in particular could be a disaster ¨C a predictable paean to conspicuous consumption. But on the right person, perhaps someone driven by unique personal tastes that run against the status quo, La Mon¨¦gasque would warrant a closer, but still critical look, that would reveal an unexpected amount of technical substance within. Poin?on de Geneve It's not the best sign, but when you log?on to the Roger Dubuis website, the first thing you hear ¨C hear, not see ¨C is deep house music. Okay this is a reaaaallllllly long shot...
In 2003, while my ex wife was busy buying worthless crap and putting me in the poorhouse, my datejust stopped self winding. I told her I was going to have to take it in for repair and figured it would be at least a $500 job. Well she had a cow, and made a (then) compelling argument that I should just sell it instead. So, once again (and very regrettably) I allowed myself to be manipulated by her for the sake of protecting my three very small children from what ended up happening anyway. (You'll be glad to know I have full custody of them!)Anyway...enough personal drama aside, here's my situation. I sold the watch on eBay. Probably the single worst thing I've ever done, as it was a gift from my mom and dad. A Hand me down, actually that matches the ladies version my dad still has in his safe. I wish I had never done it. I've gone back in the old PayPal records to see if I could find the guy who bought it from me, but that history is long gone. I'm not sure I can do it in eBay

Got a call today from OC Tanner Jewelers in Salt Lake City and they just yesterday got in a brand new 5711 blue dial which I had put my name on the list for back in October. As I mentioned in my previous 5711 post, I'm getting one from my local dealer (coming this week!) so I'm passing on this one as well. But, if anyone here is interested, call and ask to speak with Salvo. I was first on the list but he said there are others after me so hurry if you want one now! Again, no affiliation with the dealer, just passing along the info on this not-as-rare-as-you-think model ;)
