Slim watches are very chic right now. The diminutive profile on your wrist keeps the watch barley noticeable by the wearer. As fas as slim watches go, anything under 8mm tall on your wrist is considered very thin for a mechanical watch. Quartz watch slimness on the other handwell that is another story.The Chopard L.U.C. XP Ultra-Slim has a lot going for it. The "flat on your wrist" watch houses a splendid, just over 3mm high, Chopard in-house L.U.C. automatic movement with a power reserve of 70 hours. Such a long power reserve in this thin watch is achieved through having two (basically flattened) barrels. The 3.3mm of the movement is very slim for an automatic movement because of the added space the rotor requires over a manually wound movement. Hi WTFers, I have stalked internet sites, bought beginners' tools, and acquired a spread of dollar watches over the last few weeks. Now I begin my new hobby - learning how they work & trying to 'service' them. The following is my documentation and photos from the first attempt - a cheap, non-running Progress Dollar Watch. My Panerai stopped ticking.
Over the course of the past few months, I started noticing that the time my watch would continue unwound would gradually diminish. Today I woke up and it had stopped ticking in the middle of the night. So I wound it a little nothing.Wound it a little more nothing.Wound it a little more nothing.And so now it doesn't tick at all.This was a gift, and I've never really had any official instructions or anything with it. I'm not even completely sure how to describe the model. Hi All,I've recently taken a couple cruises, and now feel the need to adda "nice" ($500-1000) dual time/GMT watch to my collection. I don'twant a chronograph or digital (have a few of those). I have been looking at a used Fortis GMT, Traser Master GMT, LUMTEC, etc. I'd like good lume, 200M water resist, easy to set.Could you provide me with some experience/suggestions?Thanks,John
