A few months ago, I was very excited to introduce you to G. Gerlach, one of very few Polish made watch brands (yes, there are more than one). I'll defer to that article for details, but to summarize, Gerlach is setting out to revitalize manufacturing in Poland as well as pay tribute to Polish history via watches. The owners are a bunch of collectors with eclectic tastes who set out to make watches they want to wear as much as their customers would. As such, the watches range wildly from pilots, to marine chronometers to divers of various types. While that might seem like an odd strategy, they are doing a lot of things no one else is, and there is something in their line for everyone. And¡­they are doing it all with very affordable prices.Following up their first set of the watches, which were altogether unique, Gerlach released the Otago, which we have the pleasure of reviewing today. In addition to the Montblanc Heritage Chronométrie Collection Twincounter Date and the Chronométrie Collection Annual Calendar Chronograph we talked about earlier this week, Montblanc has pre-released another exceptional watch for SIHH 2016 – the TimeWalker ExoTourbillon Minute Chronograph Limited Edition 100. 1 OF 3 You may be familiar with the ExoTourbillon from the Villeret or Heritage collections that have been released in previous years. The ExoTourbillon, by definition, is a tourbillon without the cage that is fitted into the escapement and is instead placed on a rotating platform under the balance (see more here for Jack's extensive review and description of the Villeret ExoTourbillon Rattrapante). However, this year's release is much different from previous ExoTourbillons released in the past as this is the first ExoTourbillon in the TimeWalker collection. Patek christmas wallpaper for you iPhone owners
Well, I'm trying to bide my time until I'm ready for my 5135. To help with that, I took one of Milos' photo's, extracted the 5135 & made a pair of Christmas wallpapers for my iPhone.. Now I can look at "my" 5135 every day Thought I'd share it with you all - feel free to save it to your phone. I'm assuming Milos doesn't mind me hawking his photo.. (thanks pal!) so here you go all. Personally I like the first one the best, the watch goes good with the gold-tomes of the decorations. Though the 2nd is more colorful.PS - I enjoyed it so much I may make a few other model versions

Interesting Find...
When I travel, I usually take two watches, but will sometimes take three. Unfortunately, I've only got a little travel case for one watch.While out of town last week, I was staying at Holiday Inn. On the counter in the bathroom, they've got this little plexiglass shelf on which they put shampoo, soap, mouthwash, etc. They also put, in a small plastic bag, a shoe-shine "mitt". It's more like a rectangular fabric bag, measuring about 4"X6":Since it's designed to "shine" shoes, the softer surface is on the outside. However, if you turn it inside out, you have a perfect little bag that you can put a watch in. And, given the measurements, you can wrap the bag around the watch a time or two for added protection. I'm not about to suggest that these are a good substitute for a proper travel case but, in a pinch, they seem to work pretty good.I'm not sure if other hotel chains do this but, if you happen to stay in Holiday Inns, keep an eye out...

Just got a new Panerai "homage" watch, not too bad!
I no longer have this watch. "jpv" bumped this 3 1/2 month old thread below on 2/23.Marsss25 now has it.This company doesn't bill their watches as Panerai, and doesn't even mention that word on their site, but it's clear who they've mimicked their style after. There are other watches available that have text on the face "Marina Militare" or something like that that really look like Panerai.Came in the mail about an hour ago. Total time: 19 days roughly from Hong Kong.Pretty impressed so far. This thing is built very nice for a "homage" watch. The band is very nice and comfortable, very pliable and soft. Up until this point 44mm was the biggest watch I have, this is 47mm and I think it looks way too big on my wrist. Hopefully it will "grow" on me. The ticking sound is louder than what I'm used to. I don't mind, but others might.It's a wind up watch. This is also my first screw down crown watch. Seemed weird the first time to unscrew the crown to adjust the time, but I got the hang of it
