Popular “budget” brand, Techn¨¦ looks to have another winner on their hands with the recently released Merlin Collection. The military inspired pieces – reminiscent of airplane cockpit instrumentation and early mil watches – are available in a time (with seconds) only or a multi-function version. ?The movement inside of each is a Seiko Instruments quartz movement, specifically the VD78.A quick look at the specs reveal a very moderate 38mm size with 20mm lugs and a mineral crystal. Water resistance is shallow at 50M, which is logical for a watch with pilot-styling. The watch has a number of options for the strap at purchase: NATO, canvas or cowhide leather options are available for each model. Incoming Seiko¡¯s Divers 200m - S726
I purchased these divers with the intent to mod them ¡°calm down all read the rest¡±. I have many 70¡¯s Seiko watches and I leave them original, but these divers are not as old and the mods that I will be doing to them are very easily reversed back to the original Seiko design if I wanted to. I went to our local spring ATL GTG and I saw some real nice modded Seiko¡¯s well done and good color combinations. I purchased the Divers 200m because it had modded parts available and you can pick them up for a reasonable price to try my first attempt at modding a diver. I have seen many modded divers out on the web and most are impressive, however some are scary and looked like the person whom modded them where color blind, wanted a pimp¡¯s watch, or just tasteless. Came up with a method to see how the mods would look on the watch before purchasing the any modded parts. Giving my son's my watches?
I think for Christmas this year I'm going to give my son's my two 7750 based chronos.I'll have them polished before hand, but the sad fact is I just cant read them too well anymore and those little sub dials and such. I hope to show them how to poperly operate and use them. I'm worried thought they won't wear them much.My oldest has two nicer watches but will only wear them for certian occasions which is good as long as these will take the place of those.My youngest I think will wear his, but not to school.I guess I'm wondering if this is the wrong or right thing to do?They might end up just collecting dust because they may be too much for them.It's just an idea I'm kicking around...not going to sell them but figured why let them languish in the safe. Hey All,I've been waiting for some time to get a 5711, but I wanted to buy it brand new vs pre-owned. I was offered one by my AD in December, but it wasn't a good time for me to bring a 5711 into the fold.After a recent discussion with my AD, they let me know that they received a 5712. I did some research and decided to stretch a bit to get into the 5712 vs the 5711. I currently own a 5167, so also felt the 5711 would be a bit of an overlap.No pics yet as I pick it up this weekend, but I would love to hear from current 5712 owners! How do you enjoy your 5712's? Anyone else want a 5711 and decide to stretch to the 5712 instead? Was it worth it for you? Would love to see your 5712's!!
