Artya Perpetual Calendar Piece Unique Watches
I got a sneak preview of this watch a few months ago and am happy to now be able to show it to you. This is the Artya Perpetual Calendar watch - it combines an exclusive manufacture movement with a surprisingly clean and technical design from the "art watch" brand. The Perpetual Calendar will be available as 10 limited edition pieces. Each piece will have its own materials and colors so that it is totally unique.The first thing I noticed about the watch was the bezel. According to Artya's Yvan Apra, the bezel was influenced by the art and style of Stargate - which is essentially futuristic ancient Egyptian. Aside from looking really cool, the engraved design includes hieroglyphics that actually say something (though I am not sure what). The motto of the watch is actually very ancient Egyptian in theme and is "Vita brevis, ars longa." Need help with Vintage Marine Chronometer
We found an Omega Marine Chronometer in going through my Father-in-Law’s things this weekend. He is a veteran of the Coast guard and is in a nursing home now. As you can see in the attached picture, he has replaced the original band and the gold serial number plate as been lost. It is not running, but the housing does not appear to be compromised or damaged.I would appreciate any thoughts on the following before I send it in to Omega,…1)Can it be fully restored?2)How much (approx.) it would cost – for the band, serial number plate, possibly crystal and bezel?3)Estimated value (both before and after restoration).I understand that it's a somewhat rare and special watch, I would just like some more information and an idea of it’s true value before we start the process. A new one: Raymon
This is the latest Hamilton model in my collection, believe it or not (a Boulton from the previous year 1949 perhaps doesn't even count, since it's a holdover pre-War design and movement caliber). The Raymon was one of Hamilton's earliest stainless steel models (was there another before 1950 besides the Lexington? And the WWII production models of course, but many of those were chrome-plated, I think), although there were soon to be many in their line-up. Most were like this one, with applied numerals, but I have seen one luminous dial/hands variation (on the 'Bay now, by the way). It's a cute little watch, about the same size as the Cushion, and of similar shape, but with retro-modern styling. I love the faceted bezel and the pseudo-"flexible" lugs.Okay, some pics...

Pricing and Discounts
I have a few questions about what you guys all think about the standard discount on various watches should be. I know that 30% or so for Omega and the like pretty standard, and that it is much less for say a Rolex. But what about other brands like Panerai, IWC, JLC, and other high end pieces. Is 30% pretty standard for anything at Omega caliber and below: say a Hamilton? Should I expect discounts from vintage retailers since they don't have msrp? What about with limited edition watches: should they be discounted? I have been burned on one or two purchases in the past because of inexperience and age and I think that a pricing guide/tutorial is one of the most important things to read before getting into high end watch collecting.Thoughts?
