Ochs und Junior Watches Interview With Beat Weinmann
On Jan 27th, I had the pleasure of talking to Beat Weinmann of ochs und junior, as a follow-up to my review of the selene tinta. Allow me to thank Mr. Weinmann for his time.PH: One of the things that came up in the comments on my review is the cost of ochs und jr compared to other Swiss brands. Briefly put, why so much for an unpolished titanium case and basic ebauche?BW: There are several reasons for the costs, mainly due to nonstandard cases and limited production runs. Most case makers have minimum order quantities of 500 or more, which is more than the entire annual production for ochs und junior. We wanted a 2-part, unpolished case with no movement ring, and no manufacturer could make that for us. Having them made by Peter Cantieni allows top quality and small quantities, but of course the per-unit cost is much higher. I continue to be impressed with the thought Omega put into the design of the PloProf. When I replaced the mesh with the Maratac strap, I discovered that the case has notches for the spring bars to slip down into:A nice touch that makes changing straps a lot easier.Fr. John†

Benrus double date
Hey guys I'm pretty new to the WTF and well just kind of getting back into picking up different pieces, not a "serious" collector but an enthusiast if you will. I own a similar Benrus d/d to that one when you open this forum, Day of the week window, and pointer for the date. Its in a stainless case with "regular" lugs, not teardroped or knotted like the one shown. I like it though and went looking for one. I saw one selling on the bay and thought I'd just watch it to see where it went. I'm guessing a few noticed it and heck one may have bought it. My watch runs OK the jeweler I used in the past who did some repairs for me wasn't too interested in repairing mine or anyone's watches b/c the time vs. what he charged there just wasn't enough GP. So I'm looking for someone who is willing to take on these watches too. So let men know if you know someone.OK the watch sold last night, I watched it to the end, I was tempted to throw out a bid but resisted b/c of the description, one part saying

Replacement leather strap for Patek
HelloNewbie here.I do hope I'm not doubling up (I did a search and got no matches) but I was wondering if anyone can recommend a replacement strap for a Calatrava. As much as I like to have genuine parts I cannot stomach the 400 odd dollar price tag for the original (which I am lucky 2 get 18 mths wear from, it being my daily wearer).Thanks for any info._____________________ed tree
